there's a thing now

Hi ILE. Long time no post. New job with less empty stretches.

In the last two weeks I've been emailed TWICE by journalists researching stories who have come upon my posts in ILE. One was a chap from BBC Devon's sport desk trying to find out Clement Freud's favourite footy team and the other (more interestingly) was a chap from Newsweek researching an article on people who google-stalk their exes (one of many things I am guilty of).

What do you make of that then?

In the past, I seem to recall mass mailouts from people enquiring about Special Brew drinking and not washing (or something equally trampish). ILE has obviously moved up in the world.

nonono, Pinkpanther, you misunderstood. I was not seeking your approval or somesuch, tho its something I do crave and dream about. I merely figured that lots of other people who post hereabouts would have been contacted by the same journalists, particularly the Newsweek one. I thought it would be nice to pop in here (I used to come here a lot in a former existence) and tell the assembled that lazy journos are using you for research, and hopefully stimulate some further discussion about Cyber Stalking ( a subject dear to my sad little heart) and maybe alert ILE readers to the existence of a forthcoming NEwsweek article to which they may have in a roundabout way contributed.

But thanks for replying.

lazy journos are using you for research

Why does this make them lazy?

N. (nickdastoor), Thursday, 7 November 2002 11:15 (twenty-three years ago)

Oh I dunno. Just being mean. No offence meant to non lazy journos.

misterjones (misterjones), Thursday, 7 November 2002 11:18 (twenty-three years ago)

I was trying to separate the sheep from the goats

(where goats=lazy journalists and sheep=coyotes)

N. (nickdastoor), Thursday, 7 November 2002 11:37 (twenty-three years ago)

you've got it all wrong. sheep/goat=2003.

as coyote=1974 and pig=2002.

lazy journalists=?

RJG (RJG), Thursday, 7 November 2002 11:44 (twenty-three years ago)
