Robert Frank

There are many Roberts who I've never heard of who have their own thread, so I feel justified in starting this one.

Saw Leaving Home, Coming Home last night: made in 2004, never screened because Frank felt some of it was too personal, just now getting a release. I saw a one-time screening of Cocksucker Blues at the Lightbox about five years ago; you can find that on YouTube for the moment, split into two parts.

He didn't mention the Rolling Stones until right near the end of the new documentary (the subject comes up in a funny, offhanded way). The film is clearly something he doesn't enjoy talking about--the friend who helped him make it died a year later--but he's also just as clearly resigned to the fact that people want to hear about it.

Wish I had a copy of The Americans; the most expensive copy on AbeBooks goes for $13,500.
