If he’d been allowed to live, he might have revealed that Bill Clinton may have committed sexual misconduct, which would have been truly damaging to the Clinton legacy.

American Fear of Pranksterism (Ed), Saturday, 10 August 2019 23:17 (six years ago)

Do I legitimately think he was whacked? Not really, I feel like people powerful enough to kill someone in federal custody could have made it look like a stroke or heart attack or something.

Do I think he definitely could have been whacked? Absolutely. Is it worth playing with to further highlight that he was bros with 50% of the last 4 Presidents and a ton of rich assholes. Also absolutely.

I'm not one of those The Clintons Did It ppl but I hope we can all understand that what's alleged to have taken place on Epstein's place and elsewhere goes well beyond what Bill's been previously accused of

Simon H., Saturday, 10 August 2019 23:22 (six years ago)

I think it's likely there was some intervention in his death.

Not only Clinton would've potentially been implicated in child trafficking, sex slavery and rape but also Dershowitz,Ehud Barak, Prince Andrew, and various influential figures in finance, business etc.

bookmarkflaglink (jim in vancouver), Saturday, 10 August 2019 23:28 (six years ago)

You know those murder mysteries where, as you read the first 40 pages, you discover that the corpse was at first thought to have committed suicide, but the circumstances arouse the suspicion of the canny detective (who is the hero of the book) and, upon investigation, the hero quickly finds at least a dozen people who had strong motives to murder the victim and all of them express open delight or relief in the victim's death? Yeah, this is kinda like that, am I right?

I said this on the main politics thread, but his frothing desire to see the Clintons get theirs by any means possible, even if it means spotlighting a case he's been named in repeatedly, really highlights just how special his brain is

Negligence or guards just not giving a fuck. As I said on the other thread, some of the most infamous murderers in UK history, who you would expect would be watched extra carefully, have hung themselves in their cells.

the latter is the case apparently, why he was taken off is an open question

Simon H., Sunday, 11 August 2019 00:59 (six years ago)

Yeah - he was on suicide watch w/accompanying psychiatric interviews & whatnot for a while, they decided he wasn’t suicidal, and six days later he killed himself. Ppl framing it like “they conveniently gave him the means to kill himself” like he’s Frank Pentangeli from The Godfather I guess can’t conceive of a committed suicidal person biding their time, keeping up appearances, and not raising any red flags until they’re sure they can get away with it.

Pfft what:

https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/general-news/bannon-epstein-doc-wolff-1236433536/

The day of his arrest on federal sex trafficking charges, Jeffrey Epstein was planning a documentary to rehabilitate his image, and to counter the soon-to-be-released Netflix documentary Filthy Rich, a trove of newly released emails reveals. His partner in the project? Former Trump chief of staff, Steve Bannon, who has emerged as one of Epstein’s staunchest critics after his death.

The Epstein-backed doc was to feature interviews with luminaries across media, academia and politics to reshape the narrative, one high-profile name being Michael Wolff, an Epstein pal and avid chronicler of the Trump presidency who was consulting with Epstein on how to handle dealings with the president.

Ned Raggett, Saturday, 22 November 2025 17:09 (two days ago)

Michael Wolff is such a pompous bore, not saying guilty by association, but what a detestable man.

vodkaitamin effrtvescent (calzino), Saturday, 22 November 2025 17:11 (two days ago)

Amazing (in a rotten way):

“If we arrange it can we film on the island,” Bannon asked, referring to Little St. James, Epstein’s private Caribbean island where he’s alleged to have sexually abused minors. Epstein immediately agreed.

The same day, Bannon, who had produced several movies before his ill-fated turn as Trumps chief of staff, again texted the financier to schedule a filming date. “Can we do late morning say 11. Am?”

Minutes later, Epstein curtly responded, “All canceled.” No explanation followed.

“You r not coming?” Bannon inquired. He never received a reply, because just around the same time he was typing out his message, Epstein was arrested at Teterboro Airport, New Jersey on federal charges of sex trafficking dozens of minors.

Ned Raggett, Saturday, 22 November 2025 17:12 (two days ago)

Bannon on his 13th whiskey sour by 11 a.m.

The Luda of Suburbia (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Saturday, 22 November 2025 17:17 (two days ago)

Yep, he seems to have been in almost constant communication with Bannon, during the period in which he was on the outs with Trump, both on the documentary and Bannon’s quest to become a dominant figure in the international right.

Chomsky spent the overwhelming majority of the mid to late 20th century in and around Cambridge, where one would easily surmise he would have access to people who knew something about jazz music, or could take him to wally's or wherever else. even allowing that legit superbrain scientific genuises often don't have the time or inclination or capacity to understand purely cultural phenomena (often, those selfsame superbrains only can understand classical music, a highly ordered/deliberate system), is it not odd that he needed who we now know was the the world's premiere pedo to help him understand, like Coltrane or Duke or whoever it was?

Someone on one of these threads said there was something about Epstein's music interests in the files? the only thing I could find was that he had super basic boomer taste, he made shitty obvious playlists?

veronica moser, Sunday, 23 November 2025 18:25 (yesterday)

Remo Palmieri: The Adventure Begins (Boring, Maryland), Sunday, 23 November 2025 18:28 (yesterday)

https://www.businessinsider.com/heres-whats-on-jeffrey-epsteins-spotify-and-pinterest-pages-2019-8

Epstein's Spotify account was much more heavily used. It has 19 playlists created from 2011 to 2015. Two playlists, "paris flight" and "paris_return," appear to be named for trips to and from Paris, where Epstein owned an apartment and frequently traveled via private jet. "Paris flight" features several classic rock stalwarts like Aerosmith, Led Zeppelin, The Who, and The Doors. "Paris_return," in contrast, is heavy on blues and jazz.

Other playlists focus on Elton John, classical music, Broadway tunes, the jazz artist Oscar Peterson, and the rapper Pitbull. Elsewhere, you can find Eric Clapton's "Before You Accuse Me"; the Christian singer Morris Chapman's "Falling in Love with Jesus"; Van Halen's "Hot for Teacher"; and the disgraced comic Louis C.K.'s album "Hilarious."

Peterson and his band took the top spot by number of songs on Epstein's playlists, at 188. Ludwig van Beethoven, with 130 songs, was the second artist by song count, followed by Celine Dion with 108. Behind them were Elton John, Billy Joel, Bob Dylan, the Beach Boys, David Guetta, Tchaikovsky, and the Beatles cover band The Yesteryears (including their recording of "Can't Buy Me Love").

... Epstein's other music interests seemed to include Phil Collins, Michael Jackson, and Mick Jagger, who appeared in his "black book," a list of contacts obtained by Gawker in 2015. Jackson is the only artist of the three to appear on Epstein's Spotify playlists.

jaymc, Sunday, 23 November 2025 18:31 (yesterday)

is it not odd that he needed who we now know was the the world's premiere pedo to help him understand, like Coltrane or Duke or whoever it was?

From a good long essay by Anand Giridharadas on the "Epstein class":

"Sometimes these people give the impression that their minds would be blown by a newspaper. Mr. Kuhn wrote to Mr. Epstein: 'Love to get your sense of Trump’s administration, policies.' And while it may seem strange to rely on Mr. Epstein for political analysis when you can visit any number of websites, for this class, insight’s value varies inversely with the number of recipients."
