ILE - Up, Down, or All Around?

After a long break I started lurking here again a few weeks ago. My impression is that ILE has improved enormously, and I think that might have a lot to do with what seems like (though it may be a false impression) a much more even balance of male and female posters. Would that be the case? And does anyone think that over-all it's got worse?

In some other ways though, it’s like nothing’s changed at all (yesterday's Denise Lambert thread gave me déjà vu.)

Another possible difference I’m not so sure about. Have the debates about perennial issues been collectively honed over time? Or do they just keep going round in circles?

One more question: Whatever happened to Otis Wheeler? He used to be one of my favourites.

lrkr, Friday, 8 November 2002 10:24 (twenty-three years ago)

otis was hellacool!

gareth (gareth), Friday, 8 November 2002 10:44 (twenty-three years ago)

what about that guy who kept on talking about masonna??? is he gone? he was great!

dave k, Friday, 8 November 2002 10:54 (twenty-three years ago)

hes still here, he's lek dukajin now (i spelt that wrong)

gareth (gareth), Friday, 8 November 2002 10:56 (twenty-three years ago)

um, but was it really that bad before?

i think posters like denise are part of this. it s public forum and we will get ppl with a 'bad attitude' like doomie or neuromancer in the future.

Otis is in school right now, and when he's not in school he is working. He was laid up with pnuemonia for a while but is doing much better now.

I can testify from limited experience (and I know at least one other person who'll concur from much more experience) that the higher male-female ratio has certainly improved the FAPs!

M Matos (M Matos), Saturday, 9 November 2002 07:32 (twenty-three years ago)

Yeah. NYC meets that were me + 15 guys = complete ass. It's hella cooler now.

Ally (mlescaut), Saturday, 9 November 2002 23:01 (twenty-three years ago)

I wasn't counting, but there were few women at the London FAP this week - Anna, Kate, Suzy, Alex plus maybe a dozen men. No Katie, Emma, Sarah, who are pretty frequent attenders. It's still much more male. Still, when I did my computing degree the course composition was 91 men, 5 women, so as computer activities go ILX probably does have a stronger female contingent than many.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Saturday, 9 November 2002 23:21 (twenty-three years ago)

NYC meets where Ally was supposed to show up to visit the Sean were a bit more ass than they could have been had Ally showed up (note: it was actually still a good meetup).

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Sunday, 10 November 2002 00:20 (twenty-three years ago)

But Ally claims to have lots of ass herself! I am confused!

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Sunday, 10 November 2002 00:28 (twenty-three years ago)

It's a paradox!
FAP w/ Ally's ass = GREBT
FAP w/o Ally's ass = ASS

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Sunday, 10 November 2002 00:51 (twenty-three years ago)

I believe this can all be expressed a function of the Inverse-Ass Hypothesis.

Andrew (enneff), Sunday, 10 November 2002 02:11 (twenty-three years ago)

I was told by some random guy to gain more weight tonight anyhow so I doubt my ass makes any difference :(

Ally (mlescaut), Sunday, 10 November 2002 09:53 (twenty-three years ago)

"the higher male-female ratio has certainly improved the FAPs!" - whoa, whoa, whoa - what does this mean?

James Blount (James Blount), Sunday, 10 November 2002 10:12 (twenty-three years ago)

I think he meant it the other way around. Lower male:female ratio, or higher female:male. Whichever means more chicks.

bnw (bnw), Sunday, 10 November 2002 10:32 (twenty-three years ago)

No, I got that, what I'm asking is have the FAP's led to late night sparkle motion or something? (Maybe I'm going all Dan Perry and seeing sex everwhere) "one other person who'll concur from much more experience" - whodat and what does this mean?

James Blount (James Blount), Sunday, 10 November 2002 10:39 (twenty-three years ago)

I think it just means that Ally is pleased at not being surrounded by testosterone all the time. ;-)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 10 November 2002 15:29 (twenty-three years ago)

It's not even that...um, I can't explain it like publically for fear of offending people to be honest. We were 50/50 last night which was good.

And then plus the orgies.
