I'm so PC

I show a slight automatic preference for old people, a moderate automatic preference for black and a moderate automatic preference for female and science.

I wish there was a cats/dogs one.

You have completed the Gender-Science IAT.

Your data suggest a slight association between science and Male relative to Female

Your data suggest a slight preference for European American relative to African American

Your data suggest little or no preference for Young relative to Old

I'm a little suspicious of this test's methodology because all these preferences follow the first combination in which concepts where presented to me on screen. (ie. GOOD came up first in conjunction with white and young so possibly my mind just got locked into that and found it hard to switch).

slight auto preference for young.
inconclusive science/liberal arts (i got distracted).
slight preference for african american.

i think i agree with N. re. the methodology.

Yeah, I agree with N. too.

Ohmygod I'm a sexist!

I think I also agree with N.

Err - I might be wrong. They might take it into account or something.

Did you get them in the same order as me, toraneko? If so, you are indeed super PC.

N. (nickdastoor), Friday, 8 November 2002 12:15 (twenty-three years ago)

I couldn't do the tests, every time I clicked continue, it would just refresh the starting page.

jel -- (jel), Friday, 8 November 2002 12:18 (twenty-three years ago)

I did gender, then age, then colour. Is that what you mean?

We should compare what we are though to expose our predjudices, for example, I am a young female with a science degree. How about you?

toraneko (toraneko), Friday, 8 November 2002 12:19 (twenty-three years ago)

Yeah, it wouldn't work with IE for me, or Opera so I had to download Netscape (boo, hiss).

toraneko (toraneko), Friday, 8 November 2002 12:21 (twenty-three years ago)

No toraneko - I mean can you remember in, say, the race test whether BLACK and GOOD / WHITE and BAD were the first combinations to be presented to you onscreen or was it the other way around?

N. (nickdastoor), Friday, 8 November 2002 12:22 (twenty-three years ago)

Oh yeah, the first options were the white/good, young/good, boys/science.

toraneko (toraneko), Friday, 8 November 2002 12:23 (twenty-three years ago)

"Your data suggest a moderate preference for Young relative to Old"

hmmm, i like them better when they offer me sweets.

g-kit (g-kit), Friday, 8 November 2002 12:24 (twenty-three years ago)

netscape/good, opera/bad

mark s (mark s), Friday, 8 November 2002 12:25 (twenty-three years ago)

Opera r00lz.
IE r0X0r.
Netscape bites.

a young, white male with a liberal arts degree.

michael wells (michael w.), Friday, 8 November 2002 12:28 (twenty-three years ago)

oh yeah, I'm white too.

toraneko (toraneko), Friday, 8 November 2002 12:31 (twenty-three years ago)

i am a robot who hates tenors

Your data was too riddled with error to discern any association between science and Male relative to Female. Concentrate harder, foolish woman!

minna (minna), Friday, 8 November 2002 12:34 (twenty-three years ago)

me = young woman in the middle of two degrees - science and liberal arts.

minna (minna), Friday, 8 November 2002 12:35 (twenty-three years ago)

Me = unreconstructed mixed colour racist in middle youth with soft science degrees.

N. (nickdastoor), Friday, 8 November 2002 12:39 (twenty-three years ago)

I did only the old-young one and was given an overall "moderate automatic preference for young" (which was generous as my strong automatic pref for young score was 58% and the moderate only about 11%, and the rest were tiny too)

I think the questionnaire at the start swayed my score a lot, since I made only one mistake in the tests. I admitted to being rather un-PC in that first section.

Jeff W, Friday, 8 November 2002 12:39 (twenty-three years ago)

I told the questionnaire I mistrusted old people but I got a good L-R strategy worked out in my head for that one so I came out as non-ageist.

N. (nickdastoor), Friday, 8 November 2002 12:41 (twenty-three years ago)

Minna = confused re Science and boys and girls no doubt due to her 'conflicting' studies!

toraneko (toraneko), Friday, 8 November 2002 12:44 (twenty-three years ago)

I worked under IE because I have the Sun JDK. (Not that most of you will know what I'm talking about here)

I found I just couldn't handle the tests. They were too intense for me, and made me feel really uneasy. It was like being in some bad psychological thriller or something.
