Hope its any of the top 11. No. 1-3,5 and 7 are seasoned. No. 2-3 might budge the O. window to policies that permit civilizational survival. No. 9 is running for VP. No. 10-11 would more wisely spend their money educating the public about the climate crisis, or supporting Sen candidates in purple states. No. 1-2,4,7 and unfortunately, 12 are electable in swing state general elections.

полезный инструмент (Sanpaku), Thursday, 19 December 2019 02:04 (five years ago)

I don’t think Sanders is any less electable than Biden. Both have strengths and weak spots in a general election imo. Biden is probably a more reliable source of turning out the black vote but Bernie would do better turning out the youngs.

Evans on Hammond (evol j), Thursday, 19 December 2019 02:27 (five years ago)

As I can’t vote, I remain hopeful for a Sanders / Warren or Warren + Sanders in cabinet ticket.

Followed by significant electoral reform.

insecurity bear (sic), Thursday, 19 December 2019 02:39 (five years ago)

Sanders/Abrams; Warren/Castro imo

Dan S, Thursday, 19 December 2019 02:40 (five years ago)

If Sanders advances to a VP pick, the running mate will be a female moderate that might appeal to swing states like Sen. Duckworth or Rep. Katie Porter.

sanders obviously

k3vin k., Thursday, 19 December 2019 03:24 (five years ago)

Luckily, I don't have to vote today and all the calculations that would be required are ones I can safely put off to a later time. I'm willing to give money to Warren or Sanders, with a few others I'd consider atm, if that looked smart. Come November there will be exactly one choice.

can the biden voters show themselves please, just want to say hi

k3vin k., Saturday, 21 December 2019 00:22 (five years ago)

Well, since no one can vote for president until November, maybe the Biden voters figured by then their viable choices would only include him and Trump.

A is for (Aimless), Saturday, 21 December 2019 00:35 (five years ago)

that would be odd given the specific question of this poll, but sure aimless

I’m perplexed by the ilx-wide disdain for Yang. I don’t think he’d be a suitable president but would like to see him in some policy role. Is it just his SV Techbro stink? I thought he performed great in the last debate (and post-talk with Lisa Dejardins) and hope he sticks around for a while. And honestly he may be the only candidate who could effectively withstand and counter Trump’s Nelson Muntzisms.

Yelploaf, Saturday, 21 December 2019 17:01 (five years ago)

he seems like an ok idealist but I think the "freedom dividend" could end up being regressive and I don't think he'd be a good president

oncle rasélonguebite (crüt), Saturday, 21 December 2019 17:03 (five years ago)

major SV kool aid vibes yeah

ciderpress, Saturday, 21 December 2019 17:06 (five years ago)

I wouldn't at all mind Yang as the general manager of a gastropub.

TikTok to the (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Saturday, 21 December 2019 17:07 (five years ago)

I agree on both counts. It’s a depressing field imo when it comes to combating Cult 45. Maybe the DNC needs to stunt cast George Clooney.

Yelploaf, Saturday, 21 December 2019 17:08 (five years ago)

Your sense of Yang's appeal and ability is understandably based on your personal sense of how he appeals to you. He can speak clearly enough about his worldview, but who is he speaking to, who does he excite? Looking at the Democratic base, he has no identifiable constituency outside of some tech-bro types and fans of UBI. His signature policies are not influencing the campaign or moving the needle.

I would be gratified if, once he is forced to drop his candidacy, he continues to engage, speak out, rally the party, and try to bring out his voters for the nominee and against Trump in November. I would also be surprised if he did.

A is for (Aimless), Saturday, 21 December 2019 17:17 (five years ago)

There was that interactive quiz on the Washington Post a while back that matched your responses to the candidate that best represented your policy views and I got Yang.

Darin, Saturday, 21 December 2019 22:27 (five years ago)

There is a whole Ronny Chieng bit in his new netlflix special about about children of asian immigrants to the US being able fix the structural issues of the county in like, a week. and I laughed. We all laughed because yeah, white people are slow as shit about doing anything in life.

Yerac, Sunday, 22 December 2019 00:24 (five years ago)

How embarrassing.

I fear the the most sanctimonious portion of the left will never have me again. :(

Darin, Sunday, 22 December 2019 01:42 (five years ago)

If your takeaway is that laughing at Yang is sanctimony, the quiz was correct.
