I heartily recommend that everyone grit their teeth and pay for Stitcher Premium for a little while or burn a free trial and listen to as much of this damn show as possible, ideally from the beginning, I'm going to sit down at some point and make a stab at an All-Time Episodes list

Shaun Diston Christmas ep was joyful, as are most of the musical ones. Also any episode where one of them is on the phone (the Gabrus one was demented and I remember an early Scharpling one?)

should reiterate for the record that my favorite episode of all is "Doing Spont, Our Close Friend" which is nevertheless a bad one to start with because enjoying it kind of requires you to already be familiar with HH's rhythms as well as an entirely other podcast, Paul F Tompkins' now-defunct Spontaneanation.

also the shrimp-off episode of Doughboys is an honorary Hollywood Handbook episode imo

holy cow i was going to start this thread with the same name today. i'm so glad they brought back the "i love you and i'm in love with you" bit for the tony hawk episode this week (to great effect)

all of the try month episodes were pretty great

and i love that this is a podcast that has a "try month"

yeah honestly not a bad time to check the show out, several Pro Version episodes dropped in the free feed for Try Month as well

I don't want to make it seem like just listening to recent episodes is "bad" but I have no idea how appealing the show is at this point to people who don't already like it. It's really good though!

it's one of maybe four podcasts i listen to regularly and the only one i've bothered to keep current with while not commuting

First episode I ever heard was the Triumph at Comic Con I think. and the first episodes where I properly got into it were the critiquing Joe Mande's stand up eps.

The Jeremy Levick/Rajat Suresh was great in the sense that despite claiming to be fans of Hayes and Sean the two seemed to have absolutely no clue how Hollywood Handbook worked.

lots of lols in the shea serrano ep. just noticed new ep is mario bamford. simultaneously nervous + excited.

Maria Bamford ep not as sparkling as it should be given some practical issues but hopefully she'll be back someday. Shea Serrano was very funny with his "quiz answers".

heh, the reason is I no longer commute anywhere so my time for actually paying attention to podcasts is already inadequate to make it through my feed

i hear you. i'm current on hollywood handbook and how did this get made (which only comes out every other week) but no other podcasts

for cbb + hollywood handbook i listen to most episodes esp if i recognize the guest. it's good when this gets bumped w/ ep recs bc i do end up skipping them and miss good ones where i just didn't know the guests. also i'm way out of continuity for santaman vs moriority.

ha, i was uncomfortable for the first half of the episode because i genuinely couldn't tell if guillen was in on the joke or not. so the moment when he goes to "kill the fly" was a big laugh.

i had seen it was a shorter episode so that fed into my concern that he was actually mad

theyve been in such fine form lately, i loved the kenny smith ep. "let's not... let them be remembered tonight" killed me

Yes I enjoy the Masterclasses they are a different vibe and in some ways a more relaxed journey, the Shonk Lemons character ends up being a very rich one imo

cowboy tv had me cracking up yesterday. the rodgman episodes are all pretty good.

i have not been listening regularly but when i've dipped back in recently it feels like the boys (especially hayes) are being more overtly aggressive/rude to guests. i'm used to them being more covertly insulting. maybe bc i gravitate to the ones where they have their buds on and those are the ones where they feel they can get away with it?

I'm kind of glad the boys are back on their usual nonsense this week.

'The Podcaster's Promise' felt like an interesting work of art but wasn't always the easiest listen!
