Fancy a ...?

What the hell, what about something other than just a pint? I hear that certain twee bastard mailing lists have regular outings/picnics/ect. And, no, I'm not going to suggest another football match for obv reasons. Also, me suggesting this now is ridiculous for too many reasons (not been to a FAP for a while, no intention of "organising", winter weather = limited possibilities).

Paintball?
A wintery seaside outing?

oh what am i on about?

Alan (Alan), Monday, 11 November 2002 15:33 (twenty-three years ago)

No, you're not going to suggest another football match because Sinister kicked yr shiny metal butts last time. Get IN!

Given the poncy element: Fancy an...art viewing? And thence to the pub, obv.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Monday, 11 November 2002 15:37 (twenty-three years ago)

I did paintball near Thayden Bois (no idea how to spell it so eh excuse me) when I was in London. It was really really good fun, I have to say, more than I thought. Really gets the adrenalin going, and I'm lacking in enthusiasm at the best of times.

Ronan (Ronan), Monday, 11 November 2002 15:39 (twenty-three years ago)

how about robert hood and steve bicknell at lost on 30th nov?

gareth (gareth), Monday, 11 November 2002 15:40 (twenty-three years ago)

Fancy a shag?

Pete (Pete), Monday, 11 November 2002 15:43 (twenty-three years ago)

fancy a brew? (though that is just FAP anyway)

Alan (Alan), Monday, 11 November 2002 15:44 (twenty-three years ago)

your should do "fancy: a pear" where you get the fanciest pears you can find and do blindfold taste tests, wouldn't that be fancy?

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Monday, 11 November 2002 15:57 (twenty-three years ago)

Fancy a finger?

alext (alext), Monday, 11 November 2002 16:18 (twenty-three years ago)

fancy a fite?

alix (alix), Monday, 11 November 2002 16:41 (twenty-three years ago)

that was my first ever ILE thread, lixi

Alan (Alan), Monday, 11 November 2002 16:42 (twenty-three years ago)

Why is it that "Fancy a finger?" sounds much filthier than "Fancy a shag?"

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Monday, 11 November 2002 16:44 (twenty-three years ago)

picnics are a great idea. If I lived in London, what I'd do is suggest that all London ILXers meet at some train station on a saturday morning and then en masse go to some town like Brighton or somewhere, smash it up for the day, and then get the train back.

only maybe not Brighton, as the Sinister kids are always hanging out there and would probably kick your arses. Maybe you could all go to Hampden Court and laugh at anyone munterish enough to get lost in the maze.

sadly I do not live in London.

DV (dirtyvicar), Monday, 11 November 2002 16:46 (twenty-three years ago)

... trip to Chessington/Thorpe Park/Alton Towers/London Zoo?

Although all of these are probably closed at the moment making this idea RUBBISH.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 11 November 2002 17:03 (twenty-three years ago)

Picnics are not so good in this weather. What is the indoor equivilent of a picnic? Laserquest?

alix (alix), Monday, 11 November 2002 17:04 (twenty-three years ago)

we cd all gather underground and feed off unsuspecting travellers using the bakerloo and central lines

mark s (mark s), Monday, 11 November 2002 17:04 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm not going anywhere NEAR the central line.

Perhaps finally public demand is high enough to make the excursion to Dr. Beaks...

Sarah (starry), Monday, 11 November 2002 17:06 (twenty-three years ago)

your should do "fancy: a pear" where you get the fanciest pears you can find and do blindfold taste tests, wouldn't that be fancy?

Please tell me that this is going to be your next party. That's fabulous.

Ally (mlescaut), Monday, 11 November 2002 17:06 (twenty-three years ago)

Ally, are you fancy?

Graham (graham), Monday, 11 November 2002 17:09 (twenty-three years ago)

I like the idea of 'fancy a finger' in which we do a blind taste test of:
-fish finger
-chocolate finger
-finger of fudge
-sponge finger
-goldfinger (murder on your fillings)
-pint of Bishop's Finger
-Badfinger

Tim (Tim), Monday, 11 November 2002 17:13 (twenty-three years ago)

Actually, I do fancy going to the seaside. Seriously. Some miserable beach, in the wintery. It's right up my street. Not literally, fools. Someone come to the seaside with me sometime.

alix (alix), Monday, 11 November 2002 17:17 (twenty-three years ago)

Noone is smashing up Brighton. Orlright?

Archel (Archel), Monday, 11 November 2002 17:23 (twenty-three years ago)

Anyone want to smash Rye? Or Camber?

Graham (graham), Monday, 11 November 2002 17:30 (twenty-three years ago)

Whichever one of the Cinqueports it was that had the NARROW ARCH. That's the one I want to go to. (Even though the sea has moved several miles since medieval times)

kate, Monday, 11 November 2002 17:39 (twenty-three years ago)

I am very NOT FANCY.

Ally (mlescaut), Monday, 11 November 2002 17:42 (twenty-three years ago)

That's Rye dear. I live there kind of.

Graham (graham), Monday, 11 November 2002 17:44 (twenty-three years ago)

how abt Fancy a movie in which we meet up and go to see eminem's movie when it opens in the UK. and after that a drink of course.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Monday, 11 November 2002 22:00 (twenty-three years ago)

All of these suggestions sound great to me!

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Monday, 11 November 2002 22:46 (twenty-three years ago)

Rye is BRILLIANT. you can go to the tower and be entertained by the towerman who hates children. at some point a load of children will show up and he will start swearing.

apparently there is also some museum of sound and light there.

DV (dirtyvicar), Tuesday, 12 November 2002 15:07 (twenty-three years ago)

Noone is smashing up Brighton. Orlright?

Herman's Hermits could prolly take out the whole Sussex coast between 'em.

MarkH (MarkH), Tuesday, 12 November 2002 15:11 (twenty-three years ago)

we could go to whitby and go on a ghost walk before going to the pub and then the offie and then break into the abbey at night and make a fire and tell stories.

michael wells (michael w.), Tuesday, 12 November 2002 15:15 (twenty-three years ago)

rye is lovely and the musuem of mechanical music there is grebt. the man who runs it will show you many fine music boxes, explain the difference between a player piano and a piano player, tell you where the expression "the penny drops" came from, and if you're from ireland he'll play a wax cylinder of "it's a long way to tipperary" for you.

whitby! gothic weekend! yeah!! (i've never actually been to any of the wgw's. i tried to trick all my friends into going there instead of to ATP but the DV spilled the beans. curses.

angela (angela), Tuesday, 12 November 2002 15:19 (twenty-three years ago)

I've never been to any of these places, I live there.

(I remember there's a weekend inspring where they have everything open for residents though. hmm)

Graham (graham), Tuesday, 12 November 2002 15:22 (twenty-three years ago)

how about a bowling competition against s*nster? We gotta be able to beat them at something?

jel -- (jel), Sunday, 17 November 2002 17:47 (twenty-three years ago)

They are Belle & Sebastian fans = we should challenge them to a fight. (Plan somewhat undermined by everyone on ILE, at least London people, being completely soft.)

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Sunday, 17 November 2002 19:32 (twenty-three years ago)

(and being Belle and Sebastian fans)

Graham (graham), Sunday, 17 November 2002 20:30 (twenty-three years ago)

Not all of us are B&S fans, Graham. Sadly the extra hardness I expect of non-fans seems not to actually exist in practice (except me, obv...). Actually I think our biggest men were all Sinister types too, like Tim and Chris.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Monday, 18 November 2002 00:38 (twenty-three years ago)

I think Chris played for ile in the football, and even though he likes B&S his loyalties lie with ile, definitely!

Vicky (Vicky), Monday, 18 November 2002 11:54 (twenty-three years ago)

Fancy a day out to Stockport HatWorks hat museum? It looks like a huge building with surely lots of intrigue and fun for all.

(though I don't think the name is InterCapped in the real worl, but if only it was)

Graham (graham), Monday, 18 November 2002 12:03 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm still up for a return football match v Sinistah!

**our biggest men were all Sinister types too**

Are you saying I'm small, Skidmore? Eh? Outside now!!

Dr. C (Dr. C), Monday, 18 November 2002 12:26 (twenty-three years ago)

You are tall, Dr C, but not terribly hefty, I think it's fair to say. Obviously from my 5'7" perspective you have to be, ooh, Anna's size or less to qualify as small.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Monday, 18 November 2002 19:27 (twenty-three years ago)

BOWLING BOWLING BOWLING BOWLING

Alan (Alan), Tuesday, 19 November 2002 12:16 (twenty-three years ago)

I think you should all come on a trip to Glasgow. I can sleep three and I'm sure others would volunteer to put the rest of you up.

Madchen (Madchen), Tuesday, 19 November 2002 13:21 (twenty-three years ago)

Yeah, I've got plenty of room for the next few months!

Plinky (Plinky), Tuesday, 19 November 2002 13:24 (twenty-three years ago)

Has there been a Glasgow FAP yet?

Madchen (Madchen), Tuesday, 19 November 2002 13:25 (twenty-three years ago)

Not since I've been here, was gonna suggest one for my b'day but was afeared I was too much of a newby and I'd get shot down in flames....

Plinky (Plinky), Tuesday, 19 November 2002 13:27 (twenty-three years ago)

I think we should all go ice skating in Streatham arena!

Sarah (starry), Tuesday, 19 November 2002 13:38 (twenty-three years ago)

Or completely ignored....

Plinky (Plinky), Tuesday, 19 November 2002 13:56 (twenty-three years ago)

Take the ILE-rs Bowling.....

Pete (Pete), Tuesday, 19 November 2002 13:58 (twenty-three years ago)

I think we should definitely have a Glasgow FAP.

Madchen (Madchen), Tuesday, 19 November 2002 14:00 (twenty-three years ago)

i tht we agreed on mounted hide-and-seek w. ponies vs triceratops!!

mark s (mark s), Tuesday, 19 November 2002 14:02 (twenty-three years ago)

Would it be mental of me to come to Glasgow especially for N.? especially? I have this random plan to visit places in the North while I'm still living here. Hmmm.

Graham (graham), Tuesday, 19 November 2002 14:04 (twenty-three years ago)

Madchen, I reckon a Glasgow FAP would probably consist of you and me!

I'm not sure if you still get Triceratops in Glasgow, although there are some strange creatures roaming around the hills near Drumchapel I'm told....

Graham, come to Glasgow, it's a wonderfull place, I shall buy you a deep fried mars bar!

Plinky (Plinky), Tuesday, 19 November 2002 14:07 (twenty-three years ago)

We would also have RJG and Ally C, but I see them all the time, so you would be the main attraction, Plinky. And also Graham, if he came to visit.

Madchen (Madchen), Tuesday, 19 November 2002 14:09 (twenty-three years ago)

mark s (mark s), Tuesday, 19 November 2002 14:09 (twenty-three years ago)

Well I'm coming up to Glasgow for two weeks over Xmas/New Year (21st Dec-4th Jan) so we could always try and arrange something for then if no one else is too busy with seasonal stuff.

v. keen to meet david h. and plinky, for starters.

Marcello Carlin, Tuesday, 19 November 2002 14:10 (twenty-three years ago)

Well I'm at a loose end for the next few months so I'm def up for it!

Oh the pressure, it's all built up now, you'll be so disappointed....

Plinky (Plinky), Tuesday, 19 November 2002 14:11 (twenty-three years ago)
