Food. No thanks

I've completely lost my appetite. It's just gone. Food makes me feel sick. What's wrong? Since friday afternoon I've eaten a little bit of quiche, half a bowl of bran flakes, a banana, a few spoons of yoghurt, half a plate of veg lasagne, a sandwich, 3 roast potatoes, a quorn sausage sandwich, another banana and another sandwich. I want to eat, but I'm going to vomit. What can I do?

um. GO AND SEE THE DOCTOR if it's worrying you. i occasionally go for a week or so when food is meh but i always make up for it with a week of STUFFING MY FACE so there you go. if you're not stuffing your face in the next few days and are still worried - DOCTOR young lady.

But I don't like doctors.

you don't have to do what they say! (god knows i bloody HATE going to the doctor and practically always ignore them, they *always* tell me to stop being vegan = SOD OFF) unless it's like, life-threatening or something (which i doubt) but it's good to get yourself checked out occasionally. if you're REALLY against seeing the doctor then maybe take some vitamings so you're not missing out on anything vital. but permanent loss of appetite = something might be wrong, so get yourself down the doc's!

Well, Ok. If I'm still unhungry next time I go to the doctors I will mention it. That won't be for a few months though. I reckon if I bought some chips I'd eat them. Might give it a try.

Maybe it's a symptom of this bloody cold that's going around. Because I don't feel much like eating either. (But then again that might be more related to the hangover and the nasty stimulant withdrawl.)

I've also been experiencing a lack of desire to eat. Well, no, not loss of appetite, cause, well, I want to eat. I just can't come up with anything that I WANT to eat. I go to grocery stores and nothing appeals, so I buy a couple of chocolate chip cookies and go home. I'm just bored with food. Or maybe I've been eating baked beans for so long that I've lost the imagination to conceive of regular food. Dunno.

I've not got a cold though. I just can't stand the idea of food. Otherwise no less healthy than usual.

I'm also having the same problem with sleep right now. I'm exhausted, but I can't sleep. Is it too early to go to bed? If I go to bed now, I'll wake up at 1am and be unable to get back to sleep.

Buy yourself something unusual, and see if that clicks you out of your routine and makes you want to eat it.

Chips then. Sleep is a right bastard. I used to be afraid of going to bed, because I hate the bit before I fall asleep. I have to fall asleep pretty much immediately, or I panic about everything ever in a semi awake state. Hence drug and alcohol abuse. Not that that's the answer. Do the typical things, go for a walk, have a nice bath, read, etc, etc. make yourself tired. It might work.

I mean, really really tired.

alix (alix), Monday, 11 November 2002 18:07 (twenty-three years ago)

Alix -

Last time I was nauseated by even the slightest whiff of any food and was tired all the time I was diagnosed with Hepatitis A!! Which, luckily, I kicked in two weeks. But it would've literally killed me had I not said "Fuggit, this is too weird. I need to see a doctor about what's wrong>"

Not trying to scare you or anything. Just go get checked.

My own experience this year has also taught me that one should go to see the doctor straight away, even if you don't like them. Complete lack of appetite was one of the symptoms of my grumbling appendix.

Erm, you're not a pregnoid are you?

Plinky (Plinky), Tuesday, 12 November 2002 15:50 (twenty-three years ago)

Go for the chips, if all the food you eat is healthy no wonder you get tired of it. Junk food is necessary sometimes! But yeah if that doesn't work see the doctor.

I've been sick lately, and the food I've eaten has had little to no taste. But yesterday everything I ate (including something as bland as a plain bagel) just tasted disgusting. That never happened to me before.

I get bored of food once in a while too. Best thing to do is go try some sort of cuisine you have never had.

the only time i seem to lose my appetite is when i'm feeling nervous/guilty/bad.
