By "anti-youtuber" I mean someone who makes videos with a kind of invisibility, where their face/voice hardly appears if at all, but their channel is still definitely a captivating expression of their interests.

Something like this:

instead of this:

I really wouldn't have expected that kind of restraint and lack of ego from a channel called "foodie boy"!

The French Whisperer doesn't count properly because his videos are centred on his voice, but i like his approach to ASMR which is all content and not him as Personality

It'd be interesting if there was an ASMR fan who commissioned these kinds of videos so there is a further divorce between personality and content.

There's some ASMR people whose faces or voices never appear in their vids as far as I know, they just focus on noise making. They're not faves of mine tho

Hm... I guess this depends if cats have egos...

I have a couple funny Dark Souls youtubers that never show their faces, but I don't know if that content would be scrutable to the layperson.

This guy has an interesting channel, but the fact that he's speaking directly to the viewer... Maybe if he got David Attenborough to narrate!

There's a lot of youtubers who make it their mission to learn and teach you a specific cooking technique or trick, and are entertaining in isolation but as a group, their personalities start to feel aggressive and insistent, and seeing even their thumbnails give me this subliminal pavlovian twinge of revulsion.

Somehow this approach of showing street food vendors at work without any dialogue or even explanation feels way more relaxing.

On the other end there are people whose accounts are them literally just posting their weird music collection.

For a while I was able to find a bunch of people who would post videos of them playing back a record with the audio recorded straight from their turntable, but I run across these much less nowadays. Did the algorithm find them too boring?

I dunno if you can really be anti-youtuber when you have 8M views, but I'd like to see more from this guy:
