I need five 1980's art questions for like five O'Clock. I though ILE might want to help. You love this kind of "Help Pete do his work" stuff.

Cheers

(Sucker them in with a typo and then reel 'em out).

Whenne will ye have finished yon tapestrie?

Tim (Tim), Tuesday, 12 November 2002 16:10 (twenty-three years ago)

And now the proper questions Tim. (Quiz is at 6:30)

Pete (Pete), Tuesday, 12 November 2002 16:12 (twenty-three years ago)

After your Del Boy quip earlier?

Tim (Tim), Tuesday, 12 November 2002 16:15 (twenty-three years ago)

How about "Which year was the Turner Prize first awarded, and who won it?" (1984 - Malcolm Morley)

Tim (Tim), Tuesday, 12 November 2002 16:19 (twenty-three years ago)

How difficult is this quiz supposed to be?

You could no doubt make a question out of this:

Andy Warhol died February 22, 1987 from complications after a gall
bladder operation

Err which artist who came to prominence in the 1980s married La Ciccolina?

Which artist, later the subject of a low-qual biopic, was a graffiti writer who used the 'street name' Samo?

Tim (Tim), Tuesday, 12 November 2002 16:30 (twenty-three years ago)

Thank you Tim - I take back my Del Boy gag, it was only made to cover up my ineptitude and lack of knowledge. These will do nicely.

Pete (Pete), Tuesday, 12 November 2002 16:49 (twenty-three years ago)

Just so I've given you 5, something about Paolozzi having done the mosaics on TCR station (that was early 80s I think)... or something aboput Cindy Sherman?

Tim (Tim), Tuesday, 12 November 2002 17:05 (twenty-three years ago)

Oh I did the fifth one about The Art Of Noise - cos you know my special five questions aren't all about the subject they are supposed to be about.

Cheers loads, I'll buy you a pint when you are off the bouze.

Name three Turner Prize winners and the years?

Name two artists born in Margate?
JMW Turner and Tracey Emin

Name any two of Lucian Freud's daughters.

suzy (suzy), Tuesday, 12 November 2002 17:21 (twenty-three years ago)

I know! I know! What artist's painting is destroyed in Billy Idol's "Cradle of Love" video?

Michael Daddino (epicharmus), Tuesday, 12 November 2002 17:22 (twenty-three years ago)

Which Abstractt paintetr claimed his work was mostly political.

anthony easton (anthony), Tuesday, 12 November 2002 22:18 (twenty-three years ago)

haha I went to see the Barnett Newman show recently, Anthony. I couldn't see the slightest hint of political content in any of it. (Of course you may be speaking of someone else. Mondrian and Kandinsky claimed major theosophical content in their abstract work, and I could never see that at all either.)

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Wednesday, 13 November 2002 13:24 (twenty-three years ago)

Suzy - those aren't exact 1980's art questions. Anyway the quiz went well, the team that asked for 1980's art got the four right and then fucked up on the Art OF Noise question (who did they duet with on Paranoimia - ha!).

Pete (Pete), Wednesday, 13 November 2002 14:35 (twenty-three years ago)

1980's art questions anyway. Honestly! That is a rubbish topic! Lord of the Rings was a much better topic (hem hem).

Sarah (starry), Wednesday, 13 November 2002 14:53 (twenty-three years ago)
