escorting

I've been offered a job escorting four Russian businessmen round London for a week. Its good money so I want the job and they can't spaeak English so it means I'll be booking restaurants, taking them to business meetings etc, providing entertainment and interpreting. But if I know Russians, which I do, they will want to go to strip clubs, lap dancing etc. So I'm a bit wary. Also there is the mafia, most rich Russians (these own an airline) seem to have mafia connections. So I wonder if its safe? Also Russians tend to look down on Ukrainians so they might treat me like a slave. Should I take any precautions? Will they expect me to provide prostitutes? I can't really ask the agency this as I want the job and don't want to sound too scared! Any advice gratefully recieved.

Gosh. Doubtless those there in London have better advice, but is there a governmental or business group that you can turn to which judges whether this agency is on the level or not? A second opinion, if you like.

my feeling would be not to take this job, but then I am a lightweight. If the money is good it could be a laugh, but it would be a bit annoying if they start demanding to be brought to stripclubs and knocking shops and the like.

I think the risks here in terms of "mafia" are pretty low. I do think that, should you choose to take this job, you're able to pull out at any time.

That's the question. If there wouldn't be a massive fuss over your pulling out as soon as they did something you simply couldn't stand for, then I'd say go for it -- it'd be a challenge and an amusement and as soon as it crossed any lines you could walk right off. But if you think doing that would lead to headaches and problems and recriminations, best not take any chances.

Where do I get a job like this?

Really, this sounds like the beginnings of an action movie.

a general point - if I was doing this job I would refer to myself as being a "guide" rather than an "escort", as "escort" has connotations of prostitutions and the like.

Yeah, I saw this and though Liliya is taking the Mafiya on a bender. But should be careful - there is the whiff of sleaze about this and I would ask for clarification on the term 'escort'. If the agency takes offence, just refernece numerous stories about the dodginess of Mafiya outings or ask if this is a job a man could do (the more innocuous approach).

If they say the clients want a woman, you *really* have to ask why.

We can send you A. as russian speaking anglo protection, but I think you'd probably end up protecting him in any sticky situations.

Owen Wilson will be in it, I bet.

I am seeing the new Lukas Moodysson, Lilya 4-Ever, in a couple of days. I'm not sure whether it involves escorting Russians.

one of the strangest thread revivals ever I have to say (and there's a fair bit of competition). But I am naturally curious as to whether Lilya *did* take the job in the end and if so, what happened.

Martin's comment is interesting, in retrospect.
