Cats manufacture their own acid, so giving them more has no effect. Try looking into a cat's eyes the next time you're high, you'll see what I mean.

Apparently around about the time of making his first solo album Syd Barrett was given a cat by one of his friends, who thought the effort needed to look after an animal would help ground him in real life after the heavy LSD usage he'd been through. However that that plan when awry when, yup, he gave the cat some acid. Dunno if that little tale is the inspiration behind the quoted Happy Flowers song, but anyway...
