I do not go to dentists .

My parents never bothered to have my teeth 'orthodonticized' after doing my brother's and sister's... I did have wisdom teeth out and quite enjoyed laughing gas and painkillers afterward.

I have six crooked teeth in my mouth. I am not getting braces. All of you people with perfect smooth curves who have the nerve to come up to me and tell me I should go get braces can go to hell.

I wore headgear for a year, bitches.

Braces! Retainers! Bianators, even (had the overbite from hell at one time)! Actually don't regret any of it, I don't have mega perfect teeth, but they've been nicely beaten into shape and you know, I like it. Made for a weird up/down/around existence from nine to fifteen years, though, and thankfully I never had to wear a full on set of headgear.

Most recent oral work of any sort beyond the usual check-up occurred last November, with all four of my wisdom teeth out at once. I had heard from Various and Sundry Folks all the horror stories, but I was up and about after a night of rest and only had a few days of sort-of dullish pain. Chalk that one up to luck...

I have had orthodontic surgery and various items of mouth jewellery, but my teeth are still kind of interesting. I have a small chip in one of my front teeth, my dentist recently sandpapered it to make it less noticeble. Do not allow anyone to sandpaper your teeth, even if they speak in a soothing manner about the joys of even teeth. It feels horrible.

Why do people get so obsessive about even teeth, anyhow?

Lyra, Sunday, 19 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

because they are scared they might be bitten by us with interesting teeth?

I will take that one under advisement. My parents have astoundingly grand teeth, but I never think of bad advertisements when I see them smile. Different associations, I guess.

My teeth are in miraculously near perfect shape, altho' of a disgusting colour. I haven't been to a dentist for like 20 years & I lived on hard drugs & sugar.

I don't mind being subjected to drills and needles. I actually quite enjoy it. The sound of the drill reminds me of Noise. So I experience it as a gig I am part of. ;-)
