*in* your office that's meant to say.

piscesboy, Friday, 15 November 2002 15:26 (twenty-three years ago)

Awww! But it *is* for the children, after all.

C J (C J), Friday, 15 November 2002 15:52 (twenty-three years ago)

And I believe children are the future!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 15 November 2002 15:58 (twenty-three years ago)

and after all, tonight's telly line-up for Children in Need looks...er...well...um.... interesting!

I believe the children are our future, too! Teach them well and let them lead the way. Show them all the beauty we possess inside. Give them a hope, a chance to make it easier. Let the children's laughter remind us how we use to be.
I decided long ago never to hide in any man's shadow. If I fail, if I succeed I will meet my destiny (?) because the greatest love of all is happening to me. I found the greatest love of all inside of me.

The thing is, when Kevin Rowland sings it, you can almost believe him.

Marcello Carlin, Friday, 15 November 2002 16:10 (twenty-three years ago)

yeah - he speaks it doesn't he ?

piscesboy, Friday, 15 November 2002 16:12 (twenty-three years ago)

Oh my. I have just realised that I will only be occupied in the pub till 19:00 tonight. If I then go home there will STILL be children in need on the telly.

Oh dear lord.

A 'Will and Grace' children in need special = I HAF SEEN HELL.

I take it that the "You & I" which Will Young is singing isn't the Jeff Buckley song.

25 years of Elvis - in a sicko way, perhaps the greatest thing ever seen on TV (as opposed to what it will be, i.e. Young/Gates doing Suspicious Minds, Jeremy Paxman doing a Little Less Conversation, and other collarflops of mirth.

Marcello Carlin, Friday, 15 November 2002 16:14 (twenty-three years ago)

I think I might have seen Eammon Holmes dressed as a very sullen-looking Elvis on GMTV this morning; or maybe the Snap, Crackle & Pop was making me hallucinate.

C J (C J), Friday, 15 November 2002 16:34 (twenty-three years ago)

Marcello- are you saying that Jeremy Paxman singing "A Little Less Conversation" wouldn't be TV Gold?

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Friday, 15 November 2002 16:36 (twenty-three years ago)

Come to think of it, yeah it would be, but I don't suppose it crossed the minds of anyone at the Beeb.

Dunno about Eamonn Holmes - Penny Smith dressed as a sullen-looking Elvis would have been a much better idea.

Marcello Carlin, Friday, 15 November 2002 16:39 (twenty-three years ago)

Starry - get in touch with the usual suspects for pub salvation.

Tom (Groke), Friday, 15 November 2002 16:41 (twenty-three years ago)

tom, that is a debatable description of our venue of choice ce soir...

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Friday, 15 November 2002 17:09 (twenty-three years ago)

Yeah sorry it should read "to put your fate in the hands of a madman", must have been a typo.

Tom (Groke), Friday, 15 November 2002 17:21 (twenty-three years ago)

eleven months pass...
Some students have put signs up around the department that say "EVERYONE MUST DRESS UP IN SCHOOL UNIFORM TO RAISE MONEY!!!" which seems a little, er, imperative to me. However, we are having fun trying to persuade Katrina, whose maternity leave begins in 10 days, to dress up as Pregnant Schoolgirl Slapper.

does this happen in america? I'd be a bit more inclined to give, or at least to refrain from stomping on their feet.
