Once I was out for Chinese in Brooklyn. There was a huge rainstorm outside, and the place inside was packed. We were enjoying our meal when a guy, soaking wet, bursts in from outside, with a rooster under each arm. "Who wants to buy a rooster!?" he shouts. There is a second or two of complete silence, save for the rain outside, until the owners rushed him and hustled him out like the sandman at the Apollo.

Chicken wings are often the closest thing a bar has to real food. When I stop somewhere on a road trip and the only place open and serving food is a bar, I'm very grateful for the invention of the buffalo wing.
