Carey alerted me to this thread. Awww! Thanks, I feel liked. And the Custos joke is fine, actually, mostly because (a) it only works if you mispronounce my name (I like imagining how you are all of you mentally mispronouncing my name, surely, except maybe Sarah C, who asked once) and (b) like I've never heard jokes about my name before?

So on the day in question I had for lunch: a sausage-and-cheese croissant from Columbia Hot Bagels. I would say something like: "If you're ever around 110th and Broadway on the Upper West Side and you want some coffee, go straight to Columbia Hot Bagels." But then get this: Columbia's closing down the whole block for some reason. This sucks, because Columbia Hot Bagels is actually one of few things in the neighborhood that's open all night. (If you go there late enough it's packed with club kids coming down. And, umm, eating bagels.)

I hardly ever get a chance to look at the board anymore. This isn't because I think I'm too good for y'all or anything: it's just that I've been pretty busy (have to turn out like 80 pages of fiction in the next month and a half) and anyway I don't have internet access at home. Which is a good thing, because how would I turn out 80 pages of fiction with a DSL line? Right. Aww. Teeny if you want more me I might be in Boston this winter visiting friends.

This gold-digging plan is terrific; I'm gonna go get to it now. Actually I've been proposing around school here that they need to have MFA / Law School mixers where all of the pathetic artists can mingle with employable types and act charming and flaky and all -- get some Dharma-and-Greg marriages going for ourselves. Unfortunately I seriously doubt this would work.

Here is what I would say about this thread if someone submitted it to my writing workshop:

I like this thread, it appeals to my immense vanity. Let's keep it up, people. It needs to be faster and longer. Like see David's post, it just says "nitsuh%% rules." I think there could be more detail there. There's room for a lot more description, and elaboration, not only to flesh out the "nitsuh" character but also to tell us more about "david." Why does Nitsuh rule? Be specific. Also I think there needs to be more of a dramatic arc. I wonder if you couldn't try ramping up the praise as the thread goes along, to give it a sense of shape and movement? Perhaps there could even be some sex in the middle, where one of the characters has sex with Nitsuh and then talks about how much he rules sexually speaking. But all in all I think you have a great start here, this Nitsuh character is really dazzling and engaging. I'll look forward to seeing your next submission.
