What does/translation 'fremme neppa venette' mean? It is a line used in her new song, "Work It"

Theresa G, Saturday, 16 November 2002 03:43 (twenty-three years ago)

For fuck's sake. You know, it's fun and all to tease these googlers with joke answers, but I gotta put my foot down:

SHE DOES NOT SAY "FREMME NEPPA VENETTE". Some retard transcribed that as a lyric, but it is, in fact, "I put my game down flip it and reverse it" played BACKWARDS.

Except, except, except... on Top of the Pops ("the world's longest running/most watched/whatever chart TV show") the official BBC subtitles had that lyric as "FREMME NEPPA VENETTE"! Explain that...

it's a scizzam, people! these are members of missy's "net team" trying to generate popular interest thru a process of spamulation!

TOTP Explained:

On record it _is_ "Put my thang down flip it and reverse it" backwards.

Live, Missy and co have learned to say something that sounds like that backwards noise, which is what TOTP put up as a subtitle. How did they come up with the transcription's exact spelling?

The internet!!!

meirion john lewis (mei), Saturday, 16 November 2002 13:42 (twenty-three years ago)

but wasn't she great on TOTP last night.

Ed (dali), Saturday, 16 November 2002 13:54 (twenty-three years ago)

It's the intro to "Layla" played backwards.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Saturday, 16 November 2002 15:01 (twenty-three years ago)

Missy and that other MC most certainly did say 'fremme neppa venette' on TOTP. i guess they've reasoned "if you can't beat 'em...."

zebedee, Saturday, 16 November 2002 16:15 (twenty-three years ago)

If they had made a fremme neppa venette reference in the Missy Workout Video skit on SNL last saturday I would've surely LOST IT.

you can hear the track with the reversed parts reversed (at least the first instances of them) on a new mix by DJ Spec - http://www.base58.com/spec_yellowmix_part2_hi.mp3
