Saving Quick-time files.

Okay, so you know how on some pages they have quicktime movies that you can view (no not porn, I'm actually thinking about some stuff on the Vice page: http://www.viceland.com/issues/v9n4/htdocs/touching.php), but it's in a pop-up window so you can't right-click on it so "save target as"? Does anyone know if/how you can actually save files like that?

I don't believe you can save these files. However they may be a temp file version of these files somewhere on your computer, in the browser cache maybe.

If you have QuickTime Pro there's a save as feature for all that stuff.

sean OTM

you can try viewing source of yr pop-up window and seeing what the URL of the Quicktime movie is, pasting that into a new browser window and then trying to do a "save as"... if that doesn't work you can download one of those "pagesucker" apps that download whole websites for you: point its powerful ray of pagesuckingness at the URL you've copied from the source of the pop-up window

I'm guessing you're using Internet Explorer as your browser (but I don't think that would make a difference). So, do a Find File, and search in "C:\Windows\Temporary Internet files", then in the find field type in *.mov and look for the right file, either by name or size etc.

Also, you can view the source of the HTML document in which the Quicktime is embedded, find the URL of the content itself (unless it's being streamed from some sort of proprietary server), and download it using "wget". (or create an HTML file with a link to that URL, and then right-click/save as...)
