I just put the layer pans for Byron's yellow cake into the oven.

I was briefly seized by panic when I couldn't find the shortening to grease the pans, but there it was, on the top shelf, next to the Tom Collins and Bloody Mary mixes. Never before in my life have I been so happy to see a tub of Crisco.
