i would definitely not tell everyone. i'd probably need a few days to process tbh. fuck my blood family. partner and a few close friends.

Immediate family first (wife, mom, brother), then anybody I owe freelance work to.

ok dmac but what if someone were there and saw it. and it was me, and i recognized you (i'm on vacation) and i'm like "darraghmac! is that you?! it's karl malone! are you fucking dying!? or did i just not know about your missing leg?"

"i see your leg! if you're dying i will leave it there, so? what is the status of your life?"

this is why you need to tell everyone about your impending death asap. word is bound to get around anyway, might as well get in front of it

there's an elevator speech (~20-30 seconds), and then there's your death speech (~5-10 seconds). you have to hone down your main message so that any time you can yell it out as you're dying.

not that i have one, nor do i have an elevator speech. it's just something you're supposed to have ready, like a will.

if you've got 5-10, you don't want to be spending 3-5 of those thinking of want to say. you want to go straight into it. and if there's nothing to say about life really, at that point, it's worth saying that out loud as well

Seems like it would be tough to be so sure after such an event maybe the bus has just horribly wounded me but would i know that

you definitely know it, in this case. someone is holding your leg and they're yelling "NO ONE survives this! absolutely NO ONE! not for longer than 20 seconds or so, i'd guess, tops. long enough for a final speech though...if you've prepared for it like everyone expected you to"

my end of life speech starts like this:

"LISTEN TO ME!!! LISTEN!!", and then 2-3 seconds to build the tension, but also 2-3 seconds for me to think of what to say. from there i wing it then die

I'm sure I've got 5-10 minutes of last words, but 20-30 would be ad lib
