Difficult to see past the triptych of late afternoon quiz shows, Tipping Point, Pointless and The Chase. However something compellingly grim and watchable about Heir Hunters.

Overdosed on Ramsey during the first lockdown, can't watch them at all now. Doesn't help that they they keep showing the same ones over and over again, mind you.

In my teenage years, I noticed that a show called 'Loose Women' aired on ITV in the middle of the night. In my constantly horny state, I believed this to be some sort of porn/adult show. Imagine my disappointment after staying up until 2am to watch it.

It's currently showing "Left Hand of God", which has Hmuphrey Bogart as a priest and Lee J. Cobb as a Chinese general(!)

The quiz shows are pretty much the only worthwhile fare here and I'll go with The Chase. Pointless has lost it's lustre, smug and lazily pleased with itself. In Eggheads the eggheads win every time and The Tipping Point is and always has been abysmal

I can vibe with Four in a Bed sometimes but like Come Dine with Me the in built capacity for cunts to cheat is too enraging to bear when it happens

I used to love Pointless but yes its got a bit smug and up itself lately. Just seems so boring compared to The Chase now too.

I can often hear The Chase on in the next room but never watch any of this. The last time I was watching daytime tv in memory was in a caravan in Newquay during torrential rainfall and it was Fred Dibnah and Don't Get Done, Get Dom. There was a startling case on the latter about a woman's dog that got electrocuted pissing against a lamppost because some idiot electrician had caused the whole metal body of it to become live somehow.

I got a bit obsessed with Money For Nothing for a while. For those who don't know, it's an "upcycling" programme, and some of the things they have done to poor unsuspecting furniture, it's just gobsmacking.

Pointless still wins it for me - it's always been a bit smug and I honestly haven't noticed a difference lately.

Also I will forever rep for that one Halloween when I turned on daytime TV only to see Doctors doing a straight-up honest-to-god version of Whistle and I'll Come To You.

the last time I saw Doctors they were doing a storyline about two of the main cast discovering swinging, which was interesting to see played out at lunchtime

Yes, fairly often - like once every two or three shows on average I'd say.

The Chase OTOH is vastly overrated.

that's a new series of Money For Nothing, started Monday. Sarah still sharing duties with 2 other presenters and a lot of the good craftsmen are no longer on the rosta but... I've seen every episode.

Caught 5 minutes of Claimed and Shamed and that's fascinating in its way, people making bogus insurance claims so ineptly. today one bloke had a car scrape but him and a ghost passenger both claimed whiplash injuries. their car was a mess, the car that hit them wasn't. then the investigators got their hands on cctv footage of the guy backing his car into concrete bollard at high speed...

Last time I saw Doctors, it started with a woman in a campervan listening to This Is The Day by The The, and then the whole thing spun into some bizarro Alice in Wonderland trip starring Helen Lederer and Harriet Thorpe as the March Hare and the Dormouse or something. It was fucking bonkers.

I watched quite a lot of Pointless with my sister, while we were shielding her at our place for 10 months. She wasn't the easiest of house guests, but I discovered that it brought us together, as we competed to guess the numbers. So I'm grateful to Pointless for that. Haven't watched it since!

yesterday's Money For Nothing. first two dumpers said the usual "we'll give this unexpected windfall to charity / our grandchildren". the third one, a bloke, just said "I'm saving up for a ps5".

also, Josh and Ollie are back.
