Apologies for the syntax, Cava has kind of mashed my brain.

In my defence I got an A for(/at?) Eng. Lit. A level - (they didn't offer A Level Eng. Lang. at my school and my social/sex/professional life has suffered as a result ((of that))).

(:P)

Well, for a start, you could stop mispelling your name. The 'Y' instead of the 'I' will piss people off.

Hope that helps.

Patti Smith would have been some sort of hippie poet.

ROCK IS BACK!

Is there anyone the question actually applies to? I know slagging a music critic off as a failed musician is common enough, but are there any cases where it's true?

And Lester Bangs doesn't count, cuz he was a critic well before he was a musician. Hence, David Toop neither.

Cough cough Cliff Jones of Gay Dad 'fame'.

What happenned to your rock career, Suzy?

Graham (graham), Sunday, 17 November 2002 22:14 (twenty-three years ago)

I never had one.

Closest I got was vague plans to do art project based around a 'concept band', Spam Javelin. SJ had no songs, just titles, and fully realised cover art. It was based on everything that either freaked me out or I deemed tacky when 14. The CD had on its cover a stoners' van with airbrushed painted sunset and the LP was named "Don't Laugh, Your Daughter May Be Inside" after the bumper-sticker attached to the rear of this van. Music was plundering Journey and REO Speedwagon records with weird electro bits and click-track.

Let's just assume they all did that initial bid thing (in their head if nowhere else) and start talking about how Robert Christgau would've been tough competition for Byrne and Simon...

chrys sallys, Sunday, 17 November 2002 22:53 (twenty-three years ago)
