There was an article in the weekend Globe and Mail about how a committe was organazing monuments for Reagan in every state. Already they have the National Airport, A Stamp in Grenada where he liberated the native people from communism , and a myriad of bike paths, parks, statues et al. They want to put him on the Ten and Chisel another face on rushmore .

So what do you think about this.

What would be a proper tribute to Raygun

This is all Grover Norquist's doing. I came across a quote from him last year proposing the addition of Reagan to Mount Rushmore: "Get that fascist Roosevelt off of there," says he. He also has his eye on a couple of bills...

I don't think we need worry too much. There's no groundswell of support for this -- it's essentially an insider party for the GOP, a push for political symbolism within the beltway that will have no sway with the public at large. As feverishly as they try to create grassroots action, I doubt even the most convervative portions of the public can be moved to really care about this.

two weeks pass...

For what it's worth, Bob Barr (now officially the Most Odious Congresscritter, since Sens. Helms and Gramm are hightailing it outta DC like the shit-house rats they are) was really pissed that the county where National Airport is located refused to change the subway and highway signs to read "Reagan Airport."
