If you're voting for a non-English-speaking film that has a commonly-accepted English title, by all means include the original title in brackets, but please type the English title first. (This is also to help with tallying, and does not otherwise reflect the poll's stylebook.)

Where can I watch The Souvenir Part II? Critically acclaimed but no cinema is showing it (not in Ireland anyway) and on no streaming sites (or even those other avenues)

Bumping for sic and for all youse. I watched the two Hamaguchi things and liked one more than the other, still gunna watch the Sorrentino before voting, then what? Summer Of 85? After Love? The Lost Daughter I suppose, doubt I'll get Bad Luck Banging before the deadline. I saw the Macbeth thing but I guess that'll be next year for me.

I've streamed nine applicable movies since you started this thread! I'm not done, but I don't think I'm going to make it to 40, and that's a pathetic number to pick a top 10 from.

Do you have a minimum in mind? I mean, what if only, say, 5 people vote, will you still run the results?

I really liked Bergman Island, The Power of the Dog, The Lost Daughter, The Hand of God, and especially Passing, and thought Annette was interesting

Titane was gross and crass, I hate that kind of body horror and had to look away during several sequences, but it was ultimately kind of moving

i'm supposed to see licorice pizza on saturday and then i will feel comfortable submitting a ballot

finding it hard to vote, since I’ve only seen 7 or 8 films I’ve really liked so far this year, and some of the ones I’m thinking I will maybe like the most - Memoria, Drive My Car, Days, The Worst Person In the World, Wheel of Fortune and Fantasy, Compartment No. 6, Licorice Pizza, A Hero, What Do We See When We Look at the Sky? - I haven’t seen yet

there is not as much access to films as there is to music, and they aren’t as easily digestible. I don’t think January is when we should be having polls like this

Voted for just 9 films - maybe my worst ever cinema attendance. Looking forward to seeing what I missed out on.

besides being very middlebrow like every other Aaron Sorkin film and TV show, Being the Ricardos didn’t seem to have any real connection with Lucille Ball or Desi Arnaz to me. Nicole Kidman, Javier Bardem, and JK Simmons all gave really hammy and unrealistic performances and I couldn’t see beyond the acting. Even The Trial of the Chicago 7 was better than this, tbh

Maybe some recency bias, maybe it was some sappy shit, but it dropped something of the bottom of the ballot that I surely didn't care about and I've already forgot what was

Bergman Island was really good. The pairs of Vicky Krieps with Tim Roth and Mia Wasikowska with Anders Danielson Lie were perfect, and the film went back and forth between fantasy and reality and then blended both in a compelling way.

I have really like Mia Hansen-Løve’s past films but they have always seemed almost too understated and enigmatic. This brought her forward

here we disagree. Trial of the Chicago 7 appalled me, the worst film of 2021; this was at least brisk and glib, with Kidman more than that. I'm glad they honored the surprisingly melancholy intelligence visible in her '70s talk show appearances.
