for boxing boots. Tell me this is a confined phenomena and is not popular in your area.

Two's co-incidence, three's a trend.

Anna (Anna), Monday, 18 November 2002 12:59 (twenty-three years ago)

Like 3 shoes on at once?

So those are boxing boots, eh?
I take it it's a girl thing, as those boots look girly. (Well outside of the ring, at least).
Nope. I haven't seen any of them around here, not even in the shops.

Gordon (Gordon), Monday, 18 November 2002 13:29 (twenty-three years ago)

If you cut off the top part of the boots, they would look like Adidas tennis shoes.

But no, I've never seen those before.

did ug boots happen everywhere else last winter or was it just a melbourne thing?

minna (minna), Monday, 18 November 2002 13:48 (twenty-three years ago)

I hate those things. Didn't Dexys Midnight Runners wear them at one time? Or perhaps it was Joboxers. That would figure I suppose. If you look closely they're more slimline/pointy than tennis shoes.

I've remembered now, it was King (of 'Love and Pride' fame) c.1985. Really nasty combination with his long hair.

I saw an honest-to-God skinhead on my way to work this morning. Bovver boots with army-surplus combats tucked into them and everything.

This may go some way to explaining the boxing boot phenomenon in some way: the effect of wearing them with Shoreditch Twat cropped baggy trews is that of super-effete thug. When genu-wine real hard nut sees Hoxton posse member out in this getup, he irately gives chase, but is weighed down by his clodhopping footwear. The trendsetting urbanite has it away as fast as possible on his toes, giggling hysterically all the while.

My friend Feargus was working these Adidas in 1999.
