My poor i-Mac is suffering. I can only type this as I'm doing a day's office work. I think it can be fixed, but until then ...

I really hope it can be fixed.

Anyway, I know I'm crap at replying to e-mail generally, but this time I have a real reason.

Doing that thing where it comes up with a folder with a mac face on alternating with a folder with a question mark on.

I think I need to find the installer software, I have it somwhere. Nice tech-bloke where I am today has promised to give instrutcions.

Yeah, for some reason or another your computer isn't finding a startup disc. You just need to restart w/ the system CD in yr drive, holding down the C key. The computer will boot from the CD, then you need to do a clean system install and you should be right.

Just been through this myself!

The nice tech-blokes have explained everything and let me borrow a copy of The Macintosh Bible. I shall never slag off IT support again, I don't even work here.

If you ever have any computer problems , simply "reboot". This solves all computer problems - even a corrupt hard drive or faulty power supply.

No Gareth, the DJ Hell one I have a spare copy of. Cabaret Voltaire I'll have to burn. Anyway .. it works now! Everything coming up roses and happy mac faces.

Don't know if you're taking the piss or not, bro, but given the symptoms that tends to be a good fix.
