My flatmate is an actress - I had to help her research a role as a prostitute by walking down to the local bottle store with her dressed in short skirt, fishnet tights , ton of makeup etc (to clarify - it was she dressed like that not me.)

Im unsure if either of us learnt anything.

gazza, Tuesday, 19 November 2002 07:26 (twenty-three years ago)

Well she hardly committed to the role. Take a cue from Winona - art must come before the law!

James Blount (James Blount), Tuesday, 19 November 2002 07:28 (twenty-three years ago)

I take offense to this comment! It's not just prostitutes who dress like that!

anthony easton (anthony), Tuesday, 19 November 2002 20:43 (twenty-three years ago)

I think any actor that does drugs to learn how to portray someone who does drugs has learned an important lesson.

I'm kidding by the way.

(Anyone seen the Mr. Show sketch about the actor that gets a lobotomy?)

Sarah McLusky (coco), Tuesday, 19 November 2002 20:46 (twenty-three years ago)

Wasn't Winona's defense that a director instructed her to shoplift as "research" for a role?

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Tuesday, 19 November 2002 23:23 (twenty-three years ago)

I think they only pretend to. Because then it makes the other pretending seem more relevant.

As does needless repetition.

Young Daniel Radcliffe must have learnt some pretty useful stuff, such as how to run away from giant spiders and how to kill a Basilisk. Handy, that.
