Other friends who have stayed in that room, who are more "sensitive" or whatever you want to call it, have reported seeing moving lights, balls of energy, and even reported being "touched" by something that wasn't there. A friend who stayed overnight in the room (without having been told that there was anything unusual about it) reported that she was woken several times during the night by someone shaking her gently or poking her. She wouldn't sleep in the room again.
Funny thing is, some people see ghosts, some people don't. My brother slept in that room every summer holiday and every Xmas without ever reporting a thing. Though the little girl of the family who rented the house while we were away would not sleep there.
I found out- ages after I'd already experienced creepy stuff in the room- when I went to the local high school, that the oldest son of the family that had lived there before us was killed in a bicycling accident at the top of the hill. From his friends there who had been in the house while he lived there, we found out that the creepy, "haunted" room above the kitchen was formerly *his* room.

It's strange because #1) the mirror it hit was connected to the dresser where my CD player sits and, next to that, atop the dresser, was the last place I had set the Turbonegro CD. #2) I never put CDs at the other end of the room where the CD apparantly took flight from. #3) it shot in a straight line, with force, parallel to the floor. It didn't just fall from the dresser or something.
Really can't figure out what caused that to this day.

is the tv show "supernatural" worth watching at all

My wife has been completely addicted to it from the start, and I've watched the last season and a half along with her. It has some interesting ideas about family, everyone's obligations to them and attempts to get free from them, esp. in the most recent season, with a bigger, more cosmic season-long theme kinda paralleling the lead brothers' story. But there's a lot of crap to wade through and there's not much subtlety in the writing. If you could get someone to boil each season down to a 2-hr highlight reel, you'd be set. The two leads are charismatic, but not great actors.

surprisingly watchable show with a really cool look and horror direction, but not really compelling enough to make me a dedicated fan. perfect that it's getting rerun daily on TNT now

Ugh, a good friend of mine is RIDICULOUSLY OBSESSED with this show. It apparently attracts a rabid following of fan-ficcer/slash types, thanks I guess to the 2 brothers ansd whatnot.

Their fans are known for being completely unhinged -- they're always ending up on fandom wank.

All my stuff is inexplicably going missing without good reason!
In the last month a shoulder bag has disappeared from my room after not being used in months; a rain jacket (which I know I wore the last time I saw it) went missing too; and today I found one of my turntables with the stylus taken out of the cartridge, and not to be seen anywhere else!?!?!?! (and this after a spare stylus went missing about a month ago).
Who are you paranormal beings and what do you want from me!?!?!?!?!
― EDB, Saturday, 2 July 2011 22:34 (fourteen years ago)
EDB,
After frantically trying to semaphore you in Morse code, via toilet seats being left up or down over the past 15 years, spelling out an urgent message from the spirit of your great-great-uncle Ned (deceased) (of course), we finally realized that not only were you oblivious to our efforts, but also that the rather lengthy message we were asked to deliver was a load of bollocks whose relevance had expired before we finished the first two words (which were, btw "Beware the...).
Now that we have officially given up on our mission, we decided to just fuck with your head because it is fun, and we are bored to tears in the afterlife.
As for our identities, you wouldn't know us. We were brothers who lived in Indiana and died in a pool of our own drunken vomit in 1882. (Hey! It wasn't our fault, ok?)
Sincerely Yours,
Paranormal Beings

Ok, but where is my stuff?
― EDB, Sunday, 3 July 2011 00:15 (fourteen years ago)
He wants to know where his stuff is! (sound of stifled laughter) Pay careful attention to your toilet seat and we'll get back to you.
― Aimless, Sunday, 3 July 2011 00:18 (fourteen years ago)
I think my general feelings about this can be summed up by the response I left in my toilet seat.

(sound of Lem boxing the ghostly ears of his brother Clem, followed by spectral scuffling as Clem pokes Lem in his third eye)
