My favorite pen in the whole world! They write like butter... er.. or something like that. I am fretting because I haven't been able to find a reliable source in London. Do other pens even come close?

Yes, Japanese pens are the best. If only I could move to Japan where they have the best stationary in the world! Diaries for the next ten years? You can only find them in Japan.

Wonderful, but not quite as good as fountain pens.
You could probably find some on the Internet to order.

Marianna, fill out this survey for a FREE Gelly Roll pen

Gel pens...I like the Pilot G-1 and the Pental Hybrid.

My favorite pen (and having worked in the unutterable hell which is office supplies for 4 years) is the Pilot Uni-Ball Gel Impact RT. If anything writes like butter, it's that...NOT however, for people with thick or sprawling handwriting.

You see, I looked for a good mailorder that took Switch card, as I don't have any other method of making a mailorder transaction (save Paypal) and I couldn't find one. So I want someone to find one for me, or buy me some and send me some. We could do a paypal thingy or something in return. Anyone?

marianna, Monday, 20 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I have only bought two (frosted translucent housing, a bit bendy) and neither of them even worked.

Tracer Hand, Monday, 20 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

It's all about Dr. Grip anyway.

tracer Hand, Monday, 20 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Speaking of critical mass...the jelly/gel pen thang has gone into hyperdrive...when I stopped working my office supplies job (and god have mercy on your soul if you do anything other than use them,) we were currently stocking THIRTY-TWO (!!) different types of pens with the word GEL somewhere in there. And yes, Tracer, 1/3-1/2 half of them never even work. Worst offenders: Mon Ami and Pentel's Milky.

Now the roller ball version of the Sensa...THERE'S a nice pen...

I have these bright round sort of deco 5 buck fountain pens that come in orange, yellow purple and blue. They look like Tin Tin would write with them.

"They look like Tin Tin would write with them." = best description of a pen, ever.

I live in Houston, Texas and I am DESPERATE! THere is nothing worse than a full grown woman returning to get her M.D. fretting over a pen. Help me fellow gel addicts!

one month passes...
The office assistant at work saw me doing the violent wrist-snap pen shake move and said "need a new pen?" and came back with one of THESE

With her or Dr. Grip Gel?

N. (nickdastoor), Thursday, 5 December 2002 15:28 (twenty-three years ago)

I am in love with my Grip I'm afraid.

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Thursday, 5 December 2002 15:51 (twenty-three years ago)

Just like his tricks.

Graham (graham), Thursday, 5 December 2002 16:05 (twenty-three years ago)

pen porn

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Thursday, 5 December 2002 16:09 (twenty-three years ago)

I am in love with my Grip I'm afraid.

THIS IS NOTHING NEW.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Thursday, 5 December 2002 16:09 (twenty-three years ago)

I can only write with a Pilot Hi-Tecpoint V5 Extra Fine, Black.

dwh (dwh), Thursday, 5 December 2002 16:15 (twenty-three years ago)

A lot of the greatness of writing isn't the end product but the process of writing, itself. Hence why I hate 'writing' using a laptop. Doesn't feel as nice.

dwh (dwh), Thursday, 5 December 2002 16:16 (twenty-three years ago)

Ah, Dan. Like a moth to flame.

dwh that pen-porn site is for YOU. I love the scene in Topsy-Turvy where Sullivan's manager shows off his new pen over dinner, a pen that contains its OWN INK. Sullivan's impressed but seems more amused by it than anything else. (But he seems amused by everything; I fancy he'd greet the grim reaper with a pleased chortle)

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Thursday, 5 December 2002 17:46 (twenty-three years ago)

three months pass...
Whoa-hey, maybe there was a hiccup with distribution of the Gelly Roll pen back in 2001, as I have found that the Art Store in Finsbury Park (Jones? Art Sauce? whatever it's called) stocks all the Gelly Roll pens I could ever need.
