i know of a doctor in hampsted heath who had his beautiful loft conversion flat photographed for a style magazine

the article comes out but instead of a 50 year old doctor there is now someone called 'dan' who lives there, 'dan' is 23, a web designer and wanted to move from his crowded flat share into a his japanese miminialist pad in hampstead heath (disguised as shoreditch).

ever had the feeling of being cheated?

(to those in the back DAN DOES NOT LIVE IN THE FLAT, DAN IS A MODEL, THE STORY IS MADE UP)

If Dan could afford a pricey minimalist pad in Hampstead ain't no way he'd have come straight from a 'flatshare' unless Mummy and Daddy live in the Albany or something.

(Doomie, Albany is posh flats on Piccadilly, Terence Stamp famous for living there)

i know!!!

the doctor was laughing saying that the camera crew, the photographer, etc....were very keen on making it seem to be *not* hampstead heath but shoreditch.

no wonder the middle class in london are so fucking crazy. they are actually manipulated by the media in that, a 23 year old can afford a £3,000,000.00 two level flat in hampsted heath because his flatshare was 'a bit crowded'.

very no logo manipulation.

Do web designers really make that much money?

Mark C (Mark C), Tuesday, 19 November 2002 23:39 (twenty-three years ago)

No. No one in IT makes that sort of money unless they a) are very, very, very good and b) work in the city.

At least the Shoreditch vibe is approximately one-tenth the price of the Hampstead vibe. But still expensive, few can afford either.

If you need to blame anyone, blame the ESTATE AGENTS - all you need is a saloon car, a mobile phone, a 'modern' shop front and a cheapo pinstripe suit to sell houses in Britain. A pair of the kind who are about 17 came to visit the last flat I stayed in dressed in their cheapo Burtons pinstripe suit jobbies - and put the flat on their books at £800 per week for overseas corporate renters.
