It's just that I'm taking a day off tomorrow to go shopping, so I'll need to know what to add to my list.

New "Letters to Santa" answers, please

C J (C J), Wednesday, 20 November 2002 11:46 (twenty-three years ago)

my two front teeth

Ed (dali), Wednesday, 20 November 2002 11:51 (twenty-three years ago)

I have been a good girl all year, with a few possible lapses, but I am very sorry for those. For Christmas I would like some stripey mittens and also cash towards stuff for my new flat, when I get one, please.

Madchen (Madchen), Wednesday, 20 November 2002 11:52 (twenty-three years ago)

same as i wanted last christmas :-(

Marcello Carlin, Wednesday, 20 November 2002 11:54 (twenty-three years ago)

Gift certificates to Amazon and/or Other Music. Or just "money" will do, really.

Jody Beth Rosen (Jody Beth Rosen), Wednesday, 20 November 2002 11:54 (twenty-three years ago)

a call/letter/txt/email from a certain friend

tickets to new york again!

gareth (gareth), Wednesday, 20 November 2002 11:56 (twenty-three years ago)

Vice. City.

(oh, and a PS2 to go with it)

Mark C (Mark C), Wednesday, 20 November 2002 12:45 (twenty-three years ago)

I used to have Domino Rally!

(And fuzzy pink slippers -- not the bunny kind, sadly.)

Jody Beth Rosen (Jody Beth Rosen), Wednesday, 20 November 2002 13:08 (twenty-three years ago)

I used to have Domino Rally Action Alley. It was pants. Now I have Action Ally, which is much better.

Madchen (Madchen), Wednesday, 20 November 2002 13:29 (twenty-three years ago)

Does he have gripping hands?

Mooro (Mooro), Wednesday, 20 November 2002 13:32 (twenty-three years ago)

Unrealistic ones?

Liz :x (Liz :x), Wednesday, 20 November 2002 13:33 (twenty-three years ago)

Yes, and also eagle eyes.

Madchen (Madchen), Wednesday, 20 November 2002 13:56 (twenty-three years ago)

Buffy action figures! And toys! Cuddly ones! Lots of them! And pie and new bedsheets.

Sarah (starry), Wednesday, 20 November 2002 14:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I have a wish list on Amazon, you all can buy me that stuff. Especially the expensive things.

Also: pants with a 34- or 36-inch inseam.

Ally (mlescaut), Wednesday, 20 November 2002 14:18 (twenty-three years ago)

A new golf bag, some DVD's, an acoustic guitar (ugh), boots.

Chris V. (Chris V), Wednesday, 20 November 2002 14:18 (twenty-three years ago)

You.

Graham (graham), Wednesday, 20 November 2002 14:29 (twenty-three years ago)

Dear Santa,

I have been a very very very good girl this year. So could I please have

xoxo, Julia

P.S. Don't forget the full warranty and roadside assistance.

j.lu (j.lu), Wednesday, 20 November 2002 15:14 (twenty-three years ago)

Good grief, Graham! I'm blushing here. Sadly I am rubbish at climbing down chimneys, so don't hold yr breath!

(I think we'd all gladly trade our Christmas Wish Lists so that Marcello could have his)

C J (C J), Wednesday, 20 November 2002 15:15 (twenty-three years ago)

Quite right, CJ. :-)

I already have something of a gift in advance thanks to the nuking of a lot of lingering credit card debt, so right now I'm hoping that either 1) there's peace among my housemates again and we don't have to move or 2) that the move, if inevitable, is painless. Those'll do! And a pony and a Barbie and...um, wait.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 20 November 2002 15:45 (twenty-three years ago)

a subscription to art forum- only 72 american for 12 issues. at the newsstand its 120/a

a subscription to art forum- only 72 american for 12 issues. at the newsstand its 120/a (but thats canuck-some one figure it out for me.

anthony easton (anthony), Wednesday, 20 November 2002 15:47 (twenty-three years ago)

No, not CJ. You, a bit to the left.

Graham (graham), Wednesday, 20 November 2002 15:54 (twenty-three years ago)

I misread Ned's post and thought he was talking about *lingerie* credit card debt. I somehow never envisioned Ned in a black lace camisole before, but my afternoon is now strangely brightened by the thought.

C J (C J), Wednesday, 20 November 2002 16:12 (twenty-three years ago)

Well, that's a good thing, then! ;-) Now Dan can come up with more filth and Chris will Photoshop away.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 20 November 2002 16:29 (twenty-three years ago)

haha

Chris V. (Chris V), Wednesday, 20 November 2002 16:32 (twenty-three years ago)

operating on the tenuous assumption that I will get gifts at all, I would like:
1. PS2
2. Oberheim XPander or Doepfer A-100 basic system 2 or Nord Lead 3.
3. New stereo system (my CD player is old and only plays half of my cds, hence lack of posts on ILM).
4. A pre-Christmas gift of a job so that I can afford presents for my friends.

Aaron Grossman (aajjgg), Wednesday, 20 November 2002 17:01 (twenty-three years ago)

Big presents that I would never get, but we can all dream, can't we??:
* a new guitar amp because mine - though it looks really f'in cool - is simply not loud enough
* a nice stereo system that includes a tape player because all of mine eat tapes, the bastards

Sarah McLusky (coco), Wednesday, 20 November 2002 17:14 (twenty-three years ago)

awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww.

Chris V. (Chris V), Wednesday, 20 November 2002 17:35 (twenty-three years ago)

That is the oddest rendering of "Ned in lingerie" imaginable. Ned + garters = bastard offspring of Elmo and Big Bird; who knew?

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Wednesday, 20 November 2002 17:42 (twenty-three years ago)

It's all in my no-tooth smile, dear.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 20 November 2002 17:48 (twenty-three years ago)

Cheap Trick and Journey CD's.

And a robot.

jel -- (jel), Wednesday, 20 November 2002 18:02 (twenty-three years ago)

I am concerned about being able to afford decent presents for my wonderful friends. Several of the bastards have birthdays between Christmas and New Year, as does my new girlfriend. I'm about a thousand times more keen to be able to get all of them something reasonably good than I am about what I get. This is true, but I don't really understand why.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Wednesday, 20 November 2002 20:17 (twenty-three years ago)

Heh, I feel the same way, Martin -- all my family have their birthdays between the end of November and Xmas. Ack!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 20 November 2002 21:18 (twenty-three years ago)

The best present is the still-beating heart of a puppy wrapped in cotton candy.

(NOTE: This is not what I want for Christmas.)

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Wednesday, 20 November 2002 21:34 (twenty-three years ago)

I will be eagerly anticipating a thread full of jolly birthday wishes for me on Friday, too!!

I know how you feel though Martin/Ned - but you don't have to spend stacks of money on your friends to get them lovely presents. I always think that the fun of present-giving is to find something unusual and pertinent that they will appreciate. The fact you have put some time and effort into finding (or making) something special makes it far better than anything flash and expensive. Seeing joy on someone's face when they open a gift is better than receiving anything yourself, isn't it?

C J (C J), Wednesday, 20 November 2002 21:36 (twenty-three years ago)

Seeing joy on someone's face when they open a gift is better than receiving anything yourself, isn't it?

True joy is getting to see the expression on someone's face when they find the still-beating heart of a puppy in the middle of their cotton candy!

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Wednesday, 20 November 2002 21:37 (twenty-three years ago)

I worry about you, Dan. I really do.

C J (C J), Wednesday, 20 November 2002 21:40 (twenty-three years ago)

I don't! It means he's cheerful and full of beans.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 20 November 2002 21:43 (twenty-three years ago)

CJ, none of my friends are apt to have faces full of joy on unwrapping any piece of crap made by me. I do spend lots of time on these things, but I am very poor at buying presents, so tend to end up in the book/record shops, though to be fair I think these suit my friends pretty well, and I do know that some presents have gone down very well.

(I shouldn't overdo the pleading poverty either. I am kind of broke, but my friends cover a wide range of financial circs, and I am a systems analyst working in Central London, so hardly living on the breadline.)

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Wednesday, 20 November 2002 21:45 (twenty-three years ago)

Hey buddy, if I was full of beans, YOU WOULD KNOW.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Wednesday, 20 November 2002 21:45 (twenty-three years ago)

Decks. Records. A CD player. A new mobile phone. A haircut. Some clothes. A PS2. 10000 euro. A CD changer for my car. A CD burner for my computer. A date with destiny.

Ronan (Ronan), Wednesday, 20 November 2002 21:51 (twenty-three years ago)

Hey buddy, if I was full of beans, YOU WOULD KNOW.

Who says I don't?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 20 November 2002 21:51 (twenty-three years ago)

I added a million dvds to my amazon wishlist in the hopes of possibly winning them through the Amazon sweepstakes they have going right now. That's almost as bad as buying lottery tickets. But I really really do want them all, feel free to buy 'em for me.

But I all I would really love to have is a new job, but that's proving to be pretty elusive.

Nicole (Nicole), Wednesday, 20 November 2002 21:52 (twenty-three years ago)

Full o'beans = flatulent, surely?

C J (C J), Wednesday, 20 November 2002 21:54 (twenty-three years ago)

Heh, I feel the same way, Martin -- all my family have their birthdays between the end of November and Xmas. Ack!

My birthday is 11/30, and my brother's is 12/1.

Jody Beth Rosen (Jody Beth Rosen), Wednesday, 20 November 2002 21:57 (twenty-three years ago)

But Tim Bateman's (he posts here occasionally) is December 26th, and his sister's is on the 29th - Christmas and both birthdays in four days!

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Wednesday, 20 November 2002 22:29 (twenty-three years ago)

hstencil (hstencil), Tuesday, 13 December 2005 18:12 (twenty years ago)

Adam, I wish I'd known. I'd have nicked Joe's.

I'm also going to be corny and say: True Love.

Kate Classic (kate), Tuesday, 13 December 2005 18:14 (twenty years ago)

A few lazy selfish days where I don't have to see a single person.

jel -- (jel), Tuesday, 13 December 2005 18:16 (twenty years ago)

I just almost posted something very self-pitying and emo so I'm glad I didn't go ahead with it, I will instead be materialistic and say an ipod.

Lars and Jagger (Ex Leon), Tuesday, 13 December 2005 18:20 (twenty years ago)

I also want Mario Smash Soccer, the new GBV DVD, Plan 9 From Outerspace DVD, and a model of the Tardis & K9.

jel -- (jel), Tuesday, 13 December 2005 18:22 (twenty years ago)

for some very efficient, deadline-conscious robots to finish and file all my applications for me. also, for my recommenders to humor me and actually get everything in on time.

Penis, NV (Jody Beth Rosen), Tuesday, 13 December 2005 18:25 (twenty years ago)

Sod being emo, just being loved, fullstop, would do just nicely. :-)

Kate Classic (kate), Tuesday, 13 December 2005 18:28 (twenty years ago)

I saw this book about how to survive a robot uprising, I wouldn't mind that either. Though, I already know how to survive, it'd be nice to compare notes.

I also saw this Bonsai kit in the shops, but on the box it said "contains no seeds". That would be the worst present to get.

jel -- (jel), Tuesday, 13 December 2005 18:31 (twenty years ago)

I saw this book about how to survive a robot uprising, I wouldn't mind that either

Hey, neither would I!

Lars and Jagger (Ex Leon), Tuesday, 13 December 2005 18:33 (twenty years ago)

Nathalie (stevie nixed), Wednesday, 14 December 2005 08:15 (twenty years ago)

In America, you want baby. In Soviet Russia, baby wants YOU!

Yakov Smirnoff, Wednesday, 14 December 2005 08:47 (twenty years ago)
