no, you are great

RickyT (RickyT), Wednesday, 20 November 2002 16:01 (twenty-three years ago)

they are self-reliant. they are of sufficient quality not to necessitate our confirmation.

Marcello Carlin, Wednesday, 20 November 2002 16:02 (twenty-three years ago)

it's probably cos you write so much. Many people will only skim read them, or ignore them altogether. Don't be sad.

Mark C (Mark C), Wednesday, 20 November 2002 16:03 (twenty-three years ago)

Only when it's polite to do so.

Graham (graham), Wednesday, 20 November 2002 16:03 (twenty-three years ago)

i am behind on reading nylpm (and other blogs/sites), i need to catch up soon.

gareth (gareth), Wednesday, 20 November 2002 16:04 (twenty-three years ago)

And often they cast a new light on things either unfamiliar or not as well known to us as other things, like the piece on Liza. And that's a good thing! :-)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 20 November 2002 16:04 (twenty-three years ago)

The entry with the most comments on the page right now is, "OH FOR FUCK'S SAKE SHUT UP SHUT UP SHUT UP SHUT UP SHUT UP SHUT UP SHUT UP." I'm not sure you should be aspiring to this.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Wednesday, 20 November 2002 16:09 (twenty-three years ago)

That, Dan, was probably the best review I have ever read on NYPLM. Minimalism when properly utilised can have devastating effects.

I read all Anthony's articles and posts (plus Tangerines...) religiously. Rather than reply, I tend to absorb them. I always look for his posts on ILE as priority.

Marcello Carlin, Wednesday, 20 November 2002 16:10 (twenty-three years ago)

GPWM Dan. Barely anyone reads mine either, then again, people enjoy my writing rather than respect it (which is no doubt fair enough).

(wrt sucking I meant)

Graham (graham), Wednesday, 20 November 2002 16:15 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm a big stupid arse...

Sarah (starry), Wednesday, 20 November 2002 16:15 (twenty-three years ago)

In the case of the Lisa one you posted it as an ILX thread first so I guess most of the comments were there ;)

There is no way of working out who is reading a weblog entry, or how theyre reading it or what they think of it unless they specifically comment. So don't worry about it.

Tom (Groke), Wednesday, 20 November 2002 16:18 (twenty-three years ago)

because it feels a lot harder to have anything valid to say in response to a more uh 'personal' entry than to one which isn't.

for what it's worth i like your entries a lot.

thom west (thom w), Wednesday, 20 November 2002 16:26 (twenty-three years ago)

it's because you're gay

Queen G (Queeng), Wednesday, 20 November 2002 16:28 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm feeling very stupid because I can't figure out what "GPWM" means (I'm assuming it isn't "Gay Portly White Male" or "Goose Penis With Mayonaisse"; maybe "Go Play With Matches"?). Also, I wasn't fishing for compliments, Marcello, but thanks!

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Wednesday, 20 November 2002 17:03 (twenty-three years ago)

i couldnt work out GPWM either dan!

gareth (gareth), Wednesday, 20 November 2002 17:03 (twenty-three years ago)

anthony i asked a question about your liza piece but i did it on the thread here instead of nyplm (it was: why did you take out that great line about cabaret-as-coded-factory-eulogy?).

i don't read the nyplm comments when i'm there because the writing is too small and i can't adjust my monitor resolution.

jones (actual), Wednesday, 20 November 2002 17:36 (twenty-three years ago)

At least you are on NYLPM!

jel -- (jel), Wednesday, 20 November 2002 17:57 (twenty-three years ago)

Jel, all you have to do is ask Tom to get on NYLPM - not to cheapen the privilege, of course, but the most difficult thing is waiting for Tom to find some time to respond to your request. After that, you're golden.

And, Anthony, as far as the lack of comments, I'd definitely go w/ Marcello's interpretation of the silence. I swear, those comment things do more to skewer one's ego than to give it a shot of the juice. Think of the lack of commentary as respectful approval.

David R. (popshots75`), Wednesday, 20 November 2002 18:21 (twenty-three years ago)

Yeah I'd love to join the NYLPM gang sometime, or perhaps do a Pop Eye instead, it's all good.

Ronan (Ronan), Wednesday, 20 November 2002 22:56 (twenty-three years ago)

Well it's not quite that simple - I kind of filter new people on NYLPM based on current volume of posts (i.e. whether we *need* any more posters) and on what sort of stuff I think they'll write about, because I don't want it to be too much of any one thing, and on whether I think they'll contribute regularly or not, and on whether I like their writing.

Usually I make an announcement on NYLPM that I need new people.

Tom (Groke), Wednesday, 20 November 2002 23:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I commented.
