Yeesh what is he on about now?

Beliefs our uncles have, or beliefs that we having aged into being uncles now have?

Or should we expand this to include the opinions of anyone who has nephews and nieces now?

As in the antithesis to whatever means "aunt" in the other thread.

Some of mine feel like they're getting more and more uncle by the day.

We need a gender-neutral term for nieces & nephews, but I'm not sure "niblings" has enough buy-in

My niece made my husband and I "pride cupcakes" a couple years back. As an uncle, I believe this was awesome.

My belief is that the word "guncle" is the ugliest portmanteau I've ever heard.

Niblings is definitely gaining traction ime. My issue is that we need a gender-neutral term for uncle/aunt (the only options I've seen are terrible, like 'nuncle' - no thanks, ugh).

if nuncle gets traction it's going to confuse future generations who read King Lear

very true, emil.y! I have never even heard any alternate suggestions for siblings-of-parents; I agree nuncle is not it

I work in CPG package design and "Niblings" just sounds like a new snack product subbrand name to me

For some reason I think "niblings" is a bit too cutesy, but I don't hate it.

When my child came out, our relatives wondered about this for maybe two minutes, then realized there is almost always a way round it. Like, you know you can just use names, right?

Like, "You've met Puffin, and this is his child, Sky."

For people who really really want to know the precise relationships, there are ways to do that too. "River is my brother's child." "Jinx is one of Ash's parents." "These folks are my sibling's children."
