Completely ripped apart critically before its debut. Two characters watch Basic Instinct at one point in the first episode, which is as good a frame of reference as any, in the "sleazy but nicely shot" realm.

I wasn't really all that enthused about it in the first place, but seeing this in the Pitchfork article about it confirmed that there's no need to bother:
In April of last year, Deadline ran a pair of news stories on the show, including one in which sources claimed that a drastic shift in the show’s creative direction was due to Tesfaye, who allegedly felt that the original storyline depicted too much of a “female perspective.” If the goal was to essentially erase Jocelyn’s personality in the process, well, mission accomplished. Levinson, Tesfaye, and Fahim have scrubbed her POV from the pilot, opting for the male gaze in every shot.

"nicely shot" and "Jane Adams is great in this" now brings the total number of complimentary things I've heard or read about this show to 2

Jane Adams is always great, though
I'm assuming her being in it is one of the few remaining vestiges from when Amy Seimetz was directing?

Not saying this was good, but it will be an interesting artifact just for the people assembled, in a 1977-Sgt.Pepper's way:
- Da'Vine Joy Randolph (probably will win Best Supporting Actress for The Holdovers)- Troye Sivan - Moses Sumney- Rachel Sennott

They should relaunch this as
FEATURING Da'Vine Joy Randolph

still pretty funny that this show got so much press, actually got released by the WB regime that’s been writing off and burying so many other things, and then elicited a few shrugs and disappeared
