it's usually clips from straight-to-streaming looking movies that are really trite but whoever puts them up gives them a subtitle like they're a profound glimpse into universal truth or something

I've not seen this genre of clickbait but have seen all sorts of other fake content meant to draw attention on insta. They all seem to pick a demographic and come up with ways to pander to it by appealing to those particular fantasies or amping up a spectacle by injecting drama & narrative. Either due to lack of finesse or knowing there's no need to try, the content is blatantly fake so it seems like the target is idiots and children.
