Flowers of Shanghai over Pomegranates and Lyndon.

Last week I watched Flowers of Shanghai for the first time in more than 20 years. One thing that it and Barry Lyndon have in common is the highly rigid and controlled camera work which gets disrupted by scenes of explosive anger and violence; another is shooting by candle or lamp light.
