I wish you had an ftp to upload them to. :-(

Nicole (Nicole), Friday, 22 November 2002 13:31 (twenty-three years ago)

Where did you get this?

Sam (chirombo), Friday, 22 November 2002 13:43 (twenty-three years ago)

I rather agree, Nicole. But arrangements are being made...

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 22 November 2002 13:55 (twenty-three years ago)

Good! Because I would even contribute some money.

Nicole (Nicole), Friday, 22 November 2002 13:59 (twenty-three years ago)

Sounds class. I've got this CD somewhere of Kraftwerk songs done by the Balanescu Quartet. It really works well - the ear-to-ear panning on Autobahn, for example, translates nicely to a slide on the cello.

Alfie (Alfie), Friday, 22 November 2002 13:59 (twenty-three years ago)

A mate of mine has a CD of Metallica stuff performed by string quartet and its FUCKING RUBBISH!

They don't even try to go for the slowed-down Nothing Else Matters type stuff. It's straight in there with Sandman. Oh dear.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 22 November 2002 14:21 (twenty-three years ago)

Dan, i neeeeeeeeeeed this for mrs carsmile's xmas present, where did you get it????

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Friday, 22 November 2002 14:22 (twenty-three years ago)

I found it at an FYE in Boston, oddly enough. You can order it here. (Ned: THEY HAVE ONE FOR TOOL, TOO!!!!!!)

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Friday, 22 November 2002 14:35 (twenty-three years ago)

But that just sounds silly, Dan. ;-)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 22 November 2002 15:48 (twenty-three years ago)

I AM AN IDIOT. I took it out of my bag to type up the tracklist when I was at home and LEFT IT NEXT TO THE COMPUTER. WAAAAAAAAAAAAH!

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Friday, 22 November 2002 16:07 (twenty-three years ago)

DAMN Dan, you have all the good shit.

Ally (mlescaut), Friday, 22 November 2002 16:08 (twenty-three years ago)

Tool and NIN on strings both sound awesome. I might have to get me some of that.

Vinnie (vprabhu), Friday, 22 November 2002 18:36 (twenty-three years ago)

yeah i have that kraftwerk/balanescu quartet cd as well, its exceptional...

robin (robin), Friday, 22 November 2002 18:38 (twenty-three years ago)

i have both the tool and the nin one and they sux0r

chaki (chaki), Friday, 22 November 2002 20:51 (twenty-three years ago)

MIDI strings? Or real strings?

donut bitch (donut), Friday, 22 November 2002 21:32 (twenty-three years ago)

Real, baby! We're talking flesh-and-blood-and-wood-and-catgut string quartet here doing all of the kooky detunings and EVERYTHING.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Friday, 22 November 2002 21:47 (twenty-three years ago)

Sounds like ass.

Sean (Sean), Friday, 22 November 2002 21:52 (twenty-three years ago)

If that's what ass sounds like, SIGN ME UP.

"Closer" and "The Fragile" are genius. They've got an entire series here: Fleetwood Mac, Bjork, Radiohead, REM, Tori Amos, Alanis Morissette(?), Led Zepplin, U2, Yanni(??), The Cure(!!!!!!!U+K!U+K!) and Enya (who can tell the difference, HAW HAW HAW).

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Saturday, 23 November 2002 20:25 (twenty-three years ago)

The Radiohead string quartets were horribly arranged.

Melissa W (Melissa W), Sunday, 24 November 2002 07:28 (twenty-three years ago)

but no Insane Clown Posse, Dan!

Tad (llamasfur), Sunday, 24 November 2002 07:29 (twenty-three years ago)

ICP arranged for string quartet would be a little too bonkers for me.

geeta (geeta), Sunday, 24 November 2002 07:49 (twenty-three years ago)

ICP arranged for string quartet would be a little too bonkers for me.

that would be the only way i'd ever willingly listen to ICP. possible cd title -- "who in this BITCH likes string quartets?"

Tad (llamasfur), Sunday, 24 November 2002 07:56 (twenty-three years ago)

String quartet arrangements of _Ringmaster_ and _Riddle Box_ would be beyond classic. I HAVE A NEW MISSION IN LIFE.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Sunday, 24 November 2002 13:29 (twenty-three years ago)

I thought your mission in life was to do a capella arrangements of Smiths songs.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 24 November 2002 17:13 (twenty-three years ago)

Hence "new".

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Sunday, 24 November 2002 18:41 (twenty-three years ago)

All is clear.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 24 November 2002 18:44 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm usually amused by these sorts of things. There's a string quartet at my school who go out on the street and do things like a Legend of Zelda medley.

I wish they would have a bass on some of these tributes (or do it for a bass quartet, that would rule!!).

Jordan (Jordan), Sunday, 24 November 2002 19:22 (twenty-three years ago)

Currently in my folder: "Boston Symphony Orchestra - Legend of Zelda Theme.mp3"
