I am so damn MID! But i can't deny it. Bill Burr cracks me up! Don't hate me. I also bond with Jim Gaffigan on a regular basis. Maybe I just miss George Carlin? That could be it. Anyway, the targets are old and as big as a very big barn but I don't care because I live in Western Mass and when I saw the outfit on that private school woman I couldn't stop laughing. Oh god help me. And I just love watching Bokeem Woodbine. I'm watching it again with Maria tonight. Twice in one day! I need help.

Sorry Scott, Old Dads is bad because it's not about Old Moms

(note: I have not watched this movie and likely won't because I find Burr's comedy irritating most of the time, but I still think opinion pieces like this are ridiculous)

I also feel like this lady seems to have missed the absolute deluge of 'moms' comedies that have been cluttering up screens for the past 15 years, including 7 seasons of a show called Working Moms plus I don't know how many "Bad Moms" things. All of this stuff is dumb. some of it is sometimes funny. who gives a fuck

the post-AbFab world is littered with moms gone wild. some are fun as hell and some are not. just like bad boy stuff. i understand that bill burr could irritate people. that Masshole accent can grate. as a New Englander i am well used to it.
I WILL SAY that - i haven't read the CNN thing yet - the episode of Reservation Dogs from season 2 where the ladies go to the conference is one of my favorite television episodes in ages. sooooo funny and beautiful.

I really like Bill Burr's stand-up (his most recent special, Paper Tiger, is great at taking apart his own past shitheadedness) but the little promo clip Netflix shows for this (Burr picking up his kid at school and being annoyed by a teacher) makes it look TERRIBLE. I don't know...

the quality bar for netflix-original comedies is exceedingly low. that said I did actually watch and enjoy the recent adam sandler one about bat mitzvahs.

uh...hmmm...there are definitely moments of clueless gen x guys being clueless about terminology and there are bruce jenner jokes. and incredulous looks from people who can't believe that these guys could be so clueless. but hardly any movie is perfect. i think it would depend on who you are. part of his thing is to offend and all that. i certainly recognize his shortcomings. the plot is very thin. i think it would appeal to people who just like some well-crafted one liners. and people who hate scooters on the road. comedy isn't pretty. i think someone said that. it might have been steve martin dressed as a woman on the cover of a record that sold millions.

i'm actually more interested in the parts where he tries to deal with his anger issues. his stand-up goes into this a lot. about how worried he was about having kids. that he woul d transfer his shit onto them. i could definitely relate.

the look of realization when he stares at bruce dern - who is playing an uber driver - and realizes that this is what he is going to become if he doesn't try to get help (bruce rants and he does sorta/kinda look like an old bill burr) spoke to me. i have to admit. before my first kid was born i very consciously told myself that i would try as hard a i could not to transfer the parts of my father that embarrassed me and that i sometimes saw in myself. i wanted my kids to be as free of that stuff as possible.
