What do you use for keeping + sharing informal notes, research, lists, howtos?

There are specialized things like letterboxd for movie lists,
and google docs for general brain dumps, notion for more formatted info,
pastebin for text dumps. Anything else?

samsung notes, .txt files on my computer

Yeah, I need a better system for this. I have two notes apps on my phone that I use for different purposes and both kinda suck. For info that doesn't fit those purposes, I usually just text it to myself and it's just this big "pay attention to this in the near future" list that sometimes works and sometimes doesn't.

There are so many tools for personal notekeeping but not many seem designed to be shared with others. Like if you're researching which vacuum cleaner to buy... I guess you could create a pinterest thing on it?

Maybe these are two mostly incompatible modes of taking notes? Like the way you jot down shopping lists or create your inchoate conspiracy graphs is such that they aren't supposed to make sense to anyone else?

tagged and annotated browser bookmarks for anything web, plaintext files for everything else.

considered multiple times learning org-mode but tbh i don't really need the extra bells & whistles for now

I use this light word processor on my cell for notes, mileage logs, templates for work paperwork notes, and whatever writing I plan to do.

I've been through a bunch. Right now "Standard Notes", in browser and Android app.

Search is pretty poor. The app will tell you what notes have a given term, but won't point you to the occurrence. Have to rely on browser search for that.

Unlike some past stuff I've tinkered with, there's no collaborating. Needing something to share some notes with the missus recently i just broke down and used Google's "Keep".

The dropbox paper from that thread looks interesting -- I wonder why it's not more popular.
Maybe the lack of embed support (like youtube, twitter, etc...) prevents a lot of these notes from being easily shared.

Exactly these for me as well. Anything more complex goes into a spreadsheet.

I've mocked up a notes-sharing mechanism via an image that self-updates:

It wouldn't work on social media where they routinely cache images but works nicely on ilx (I hope)!
