Matt DC (Matt DC), Wednesday, 3 March 2004 16:02 (twenty-two years ago)

I mean... honestly.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Wednesday, 3 March 2004 16:02 (twenty-two years ago)

I like getting postcards, but if you sent me that one Matt, I'd have to poke you in the ribs until you had thought about what you'd done & were sufficiently sorry!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Wednesday, 3 March 2004 16:05 (twenty-two years ago)

B-b-but... the GIANT CAT!

Matt DC (Matt DC), Wednesday, 3 March 2004 16:08 (twenty-two years ago)

Well that is its only redeemable feature I guess, ok, just a light rib poking for you then! ;-)

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Wednesday, 3 March 2004 16:09 (twenty-two years ago)

I personally like the idea that they ran out of Catford landmarks after two and had to fill the rest of the card with the local station and picture of some flowers tied to a lampost down the side of the one-way system outside the NatWest green where all the alkies hang out.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Wednesday, 3 March 2004 16:09 (twenty-two years ago)

Now if the alkies had been in the postcard....

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Wednesday, 3 March 2004 16:12 (twenty-two years ago)

i think i can beat that, matt

gareth (gareth), Wednesday, 3 March 2004 16:14 (twenty-two years ago)

That Bradford one looks pretty grim.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Wednesday, 3 March 2004 16:27 (twenty-two years ago)

Gareth if you give me your address I will personally track down the Catford postcard and send it to you.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Wednesday, 3 March 2004 16:28 (twenty-two years ago)

i always buy postcards and fussy airmail stationary, then never actually get around to sending anything. on one hand, it's kind of a waste but otoh it leaves me with a sort of diary of my trips.

lauren (laurenp), Wednesday, 3 March 2004 16:43 (twenty-two years ago)

many postcard printers are going out of business as people tend to send emails (and e-cards). :-( have evah seen those "(insert city name) at night" which had a black front? very fun. the first time.

nathalie (nathalie), Wednesday, 3 March 2004 16:46 (twenty-two years ago)

I got a postcard from Ottawa from my friend Richard. It shows the parliament building (the only parliament building in the world I've been on a tour of, incidentally) in the summer with loads of flowers in front of it and Richard wrote something along the lines of "it looks exactly like this now. Except there's no flowers. And there's lot of snow. And the sky isn't blue".

MarkH (MarkH), Wednesday, 3 March 2004 16:46 (twenty-two years ago)

I still like sending postcards. I sent 7 from Brussels. Most featured the Manneken Pis. I find that increasingly I simply don't know ppl's addresses unless I've actually been to their houses for a party or whatever as I always txt, phone or email them instead of writing to them, and then I go on holiday and think "Oh I wish i had their real address so I could send them a postcard".

MarkH (MarkH), Wednesday, 3 March 2004 16:49 (twenty-two years ago)

four months pass...
i got 5 postcards today!

postcards: any housholder member can read what is said, as the contents are not sealed and don't have to be opened by the specified receiver. last time i got sent one, my friend elaine wrote rather graphically about some fellas she'd picked up in prague. my (stuffy [but nice]) mother picked up and read when the mail arrived, and was all "tut-tut, who is this ker-azy gal writing you these smutty postcards?"

weasel diesel (K1l14n), Tuesday, 20 July 2004 23:05 (twenty-one years ago)

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 8 November 2005 11:11 (twenty years ago)

ten years pass...

I sometimes think I'm at my happiest when I'm on holiday, with a bottle of red, writing postcards (I actually put a lot of thought into what I'm going to write in that small space).

I mentioned that I still write postcards to a colleague and they were astonished.
