Tomorrow I'm off to London for a few days. I will be attending the Guided by Voices gig. As well as Radio Four on wednesday evening. But that means I have a few dozen more hours to waste. Where should I go?

nathalie, Tuesday, 21 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Yes, I know, a spelling course. I will do that after I get back from London. :-)

nathalie, Tuesday, 21 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Please go to the Tate Bankside for me , Please ! I am begging you .

anthony, Tuesday, 21 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Oh, "to g" as in "to go." I thought maybe it was in the Sir Mix-a-Lot sense of "to g," and I was a bit surprised that ILE, despite the name, was "that" sort of exchange.

Well if you are in the Oxford Street area shopping could you bring me a sandwich as I am having very bad luck with getting breakfast this week and am very hungry?

Emma, Tuesday, 21 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

The Rock Circus waxwork museum in Coventry Street is soon to close, so now may be your last chance. Their Mick Hucknall is worth the price of admission alone, I hear.

Andrew L, Tuesday, 21 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

And if in Whitehall, send a "suspect package" to my building so we can all be sent home again, please.

I love the fact we got a suspected anthrax package on the day that EVERYONE WAS ON STRIKE ANYWAY. Suckers.

Sarah, Tuesday, 21 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Emma, I would gladly bring you a sandwich. But sadly I can't send any anthrax packages to Sarah. Will I cover some Gang of Four songs instead?

nathalie, Tuesday, 21 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

When are you going back? I hear on the Interweb grapevine that there are big things planned for Friday evening.

Tom, Tuesday, 21 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

ARGH, don't do this! I could arrange that I leave around 7 pm or so. But not later. So that would mean I need to leave for Waterloo around six pm so I catch the seven pm Eurostar

nathalie, Tuesday, 21 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Ah alas the big things will probably kick off later than that.

Tom, Tuesday, 21 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Tom is planning a big fight.

Nick, Tuesday, 21 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Tom I do hope you are not referring to the K word.

Emma, Tuesday, 21 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Either K word would be bad.

Tim, Tuesday, 21 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

What is the other K word?

In my defence I can only say that it isn't my doing.

Tom, Tuesday, 21 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Is it Kajagoogoo?

Martin, Tuesday, 21 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Friday eve is no good for me, owing as is widely known to critical mass of minor TV stars on, er, TV needing my bod bad (slebs bid to bed bad bod [u&k: insert all-important comedy word here, noun in ref me], bud). Er, what was I talking abt? What other times Wed-Fri (nathalie), Fri-Sun (Dan), are also options?

*Crickets... Tumbleweed... *

mark s, Tuesday, 21 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

K is for Karaoke. What else is there?

Emma, Tuesday, 21 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I suspect it's the K place which leads to the K word. Horrific, of course. You all have to go.

Ally C, Tuesday, 21 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Kajagoogoo in the Kebab House with the Kandlestick. Agghhh!!!

Martin, Tuesday, 21 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I might as well come out of the Kloset on this one and admit that Ally C is right. Dan P. if you are reading this then I am very very very sorry.

Tom, Tuesday, 21 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Hmm. 1 karaoke bar + several singers from the Tanglewood Festival Chorus = an unholy terror that shall raze London to the GROUND.

I like it!

Dan Perry, Tuesday, 21 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Bach and Donna Summers are mere inches away.

anthony, Tuesday, 21 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

If Sarah is right about who else will be there, it'll be Bach vs Donna Summer vs Bikini Kill.

Tom, Tuesday, 21 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Who would win, that fight horrifies me.

anthony, Tuesday, 21 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I think I might have to break my vow of no karaoke. This sounds too good to miss.

Richard Tunnicliffe, Tuesday, 21 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

FUCK FUCK FUCK. You are all going to have TOO MUCH FUN without me, ergo this get-together is disallowed. Unless somebody would be so kind as to lend me Much Cash, or could just hijack a jet or something. Thanks, love you.

Ned Raggett, Tuesday, 21 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Will Crazy Town be in the Ewing/Baran repetoire for Friday?

DG, Tuesday, 21 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

OhmiGAWD. If you guys do Crazy Town, I will die a happy man.

Dan Perry, Tuesday, 21 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I'm with Ned on this one - someone with Stacks O Cash should get a private plane, fly around the world, pick everyone up and have a gargantuan karaoke pub meet. Who's idle and rich?

Dave M., Tuesday, 21 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

It offends Ned if you mention Crazy Town :)

jel, Tuesday, 21 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Ned and I are distinct people, honest! This may be the straw that people use to distinguish us (since the whole tall white guy vs. short black guy thing doesn't translate well to text).

Dan Perry, Tuesday, 21 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

You don't understand, Dan, Pete's delivery of "Butterfly" can best be described as hearing a caveman grunt with satisfaction as one piece of poo after another leaves him. It had me on the floor at Trig Brother in about five seconds.

Ned Raggett, Tuesday, 21 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Since I wrecked my q first time w. an incomprehensible joke, I shall try again. Are other times (ie than Fri eve) also options? Wed-Fri: nathalie; Fri-Sun: Dan. And anyone else who wants along but is not free Fri eve, obv.

mark s, Tuesday, 21 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Do you have any idea of what yer getting yerself into, Nathalie? And when are you gonna come to New York?
