Knowing the comic, I cannot see how many parts of this would ever be used in TV. Mother's Milk's origin alone is pretty crazy.

I really liked the first three seasons of "The Boys," haven't had a chance to catch up on "Gen V" though. But in terms of OTT stuff, "The Boys," like a handful of other current TV shows, is pushing depictions of sex and violence waaaaay past what movies generally depict. I saw some interview with Yorgos Lanthimos where he noted that, too. "Where I come from, you’d expect films would be bolder and more personal. But I guess in Anglo-Saxon countries or America, it might be that TV is a little bit more liberated from those kinds of taboos."

Gen V I actually didn’t even know about until I saw this tweet:

That reference in the show context is a
beauty, it doesn’t fuck around.

mentioned this in one of the TV threads but I thought Gen V did really well at establishing itself as its own thing apart from The Boys.
I’m also deeply in love with Jordan (both of them)

I watched maybe the first season and a half of the Boys. It was pretty good, certainly better than the comic, which was shit. I don't feel like I missed much by not watching the rest, though.

Finally caught up with S4 of "The Boys." This show has always kind of survived on shock, momentum and adrenaline, but this season was probably the first real ... misstep is too strong a word, because it was generally competent, and it had its moments. But it was pretty frustrating all the same. For every surprise there's all this sort of unearned sentimentality, not least for something so nihilistic, and while this show has always been mean, cruel and gross, this season was particularly mean, cruel and gross.
I didn't mind the on the nose political satire, but it really underscores the ridiculousness of the whole scenario. If America is awash in (literally) countless superpeople, who even at their weakest have the powers of gods and at their strongest can probably single-handedly conquer or kill the world, and they are apparently all psychopaths, then why even scheme about government succession or anything so mundane? And to what end? What does, say, President Homelander offer that just plain Homelander doesn't have? (Though Starr remains really good in the role, he's like a master of tics and twitches.)
Also, way too many "I'm out!/I'm back!" bullshit with, like, almost every protagonist.
Anyway, I thought "Gen V" was surprisingly solid, so there is hope, but not excited about a Stormfront prequel. I wish the next "Boys" season is the last one, but we all know how it goes.
