don't ghouls feed on the flesh of the dead? I guess if he can manage to eat himself it will save on funeral expenses

vodkaitamin effrtvescent (calzino), Friday, 5 January 2024 14:30 (one year ago)

Actor Christian Oliver, 51, and his two daughters, 12 and 10, killed in a plane crash in the Caribbean.

immodesty blaise (jimbeaux), Friday, 5 January 2024 18:31 (one year ago)

I just re-watched the 1979 Salem's Lot miniseries, David Soul was great in that... a lot of cool cameos by old-timey hollywood stars; it's still pretty freaky as well

Andy the Grasshopper, Friday, 5 January 2024 18:34 (one year ago)

Still has some of the scariest scenes I've ever seen from made-for-TV

Wack Snyder (Eric H.), Friday, 5 January 2024 18:36 (one year ago)

it scared the shit out of me when I was a kid watching it on a b+w valve television

vodkaitamin effrtvescent (calzino), Friday, 5 January 2024 18:36 (one year ago)

I can never remember whether he was Starsky or Hutch.

immodesty blaise (jimbeaux), Friday, 5 January 2024 18:37 (one year ago)

he was Starsky, the smart one.. Hutch was the 'street' one

Andy the Grasshopper, Friday, 5 January 2024 18:38 (one year ago)

xp Yeah, Tobe Hooper directed it, he didn't pull any punches with the scary stuff

Andy the Grasshopper, Friday, 5 January 2024 18:39 (one year ago)

James Mason as the vampire's henchman and keeper was so cold blooded, actually he was much scarier than the vampire

vodkaitamin effrtvescent (calzino), Friday, 5 January 2024 18:42 (one year ago)

A lot of it was filmed up in Humboldt County (where I'm from), my uncle got paid $15 to put a Massachussetts plate on his car

The house was totally fake, we drove out to have a look at it while they were filming

Andy the Grasshopper, Friday, 5 January 2024 18:45 (one year ago)

I think you've got your cops mixed up. Paul Michael Glaser was Starsky (the street one), while David Soul was Hutch (the smart one.)

henry s, Friday, 5 January 2024 18:50 (one year ago)

Ahh okay

Andy the Grasshopper, Friday, 5 January 2024 18:54 (one year ago)

See?

immodesty blaise (jimbeaux), Friday, 5 January 2024 18:55 (one year ago)

I felt so sure of myself

Andy the Grasshopper, Friday, 5 January 2024 18:56 (one year ago)

You don't have many of those renaissance men much anymore: stage actor, film actor, television, successful pop singer

Andy the Grasshopper, Friday, 5 January 2024 18:59 (one year ago)

it scared the shit out of me when I was a kid

Seeing a *trailer* for it freaked me out!

Kim Kimberly, Friday, 5 January 2024 19:10 (one year ago)

Vampire raising up through the kitchen floor with evil James Mason and killing the kid's parents in front of him seemed pretty hardcore for post watershed television at the time.

vodkaitamin effrtvescent (calzino), Friday, 5 January 2024 19:40 (one year ago)

Heard some work people today commiserating with Kate Garraway but I said nothing because lol fuck Draper not soon enough

Died of long covid? weird

Andy the Grasshopper, Friday, 5 January 2024 19:51 (one year ago)

he was already dead tbf! When he got covid he was in an induced coma for 10 weeks, covid hated him more than uk ilx does.

Draper Death is long overdue and

Welsh flag and horrid name should have been a dead giveaway, but I'm slightly pished tonight.

vodkaitamin effrtvescent (calzino), Friday, 5 January 2024 23:12 (one year ago)

David Soul was a guy who had a lot of acting chops. Weirdly my first exposure to him was as one-half of a psychotic bank robbing duo in the TV film In the Line of Duty: The FBI Murders. The other psycho was Michael Gross! They were both superb and the final shootout is genuinely intense and bleak.

clemenza, Saturday, 28 December 2024 17:45 (seven months ago)

I first noticed her in The French Woman, aka Madame Claude (1977), one of the erotic films director Just Jaeckin made in the wake of his success with Emmanuelle. She had a good look. Being reported as an unfortunate accidental death at home.

Re: Greatest Ex-President

I’d argue for John Quincy Adams because of saving the Smithsonian and being an expert troll:

In late 1836, Adams began a campaign to ridicule slave owners and the gag rule. He frequently attempted to present anti-slavery petitions, often in ways that provoked strong reactions from Southern representatives

I was six when carter took office. A sense was instilled in me that it was normal to have a democrat president, and that democrats were decent. Then other stuff happened.

realistic pillow (Jon not Jon), Sunday, 29 December 2024 21:58 (seven months ago)

R.I.P.

The first president I ever "supported," in the sense that I argued for him in a 6th-grade debate in 1980. Got me used to supporting losing Dems lol.

A mixed bag as a president, an apparently deeply decent person, which puts him in select company as far as presidents go.

Memphis Music Hall of Famer Don Nix has died. On December 31

A member of the early Stax group The Mar-Keys, Nix went on to a prolific career as a songwriter, producer and arranger. His blues anthem “Going Down” would become a standard of the genre, and Nix produced acclaimed albums for Freddie King, Albert King, Jeff Beck and Furry Lewis, as well as worked with The Beatles' George Harrison on The Concert for Bangladesh.

Also a photographer and longtime unique Memphis guy
