I feel a need to note something about the levitating-surfer image from above, which is that the photographer's attitude about it is delightful. Dude sounds like when a punk band accidentally makes a hit song and feels guilty about it:

"I got the shot of the day, I was with six talented photographers on the boat and for sure everyone will forget about it next week. Tomorrow won't be any different."

Why do you consider it a most 2024 image?

for reasons of AI and reasons of Nirvana because i feel like i see pictures of dave grohl and kurt cobain every time i open up my laptop. i don't even turn it on. there they are. and every other grunge musician. but it encapsulates the nostalgia of then and the badness of now in one picture nicely for me.

actually, an elaborate AI hamburger might capture it even better but i saw the dave/kurt picture first.
