Pictures at an exhibition

I found out yesterday that a photograph of me is in a Lomo exhibition in Scotland (it's a picture of me, an English girl, at an English seaside resort and it's in an exhibition supposedly of photographs of Glasgow. Ahem). Have you ever had your picture in an exhibition? Have you ever contributed your own work to one?

I have worked as an artists model.

Is the exhibition in Glasgow, if so which gallery? I'm up there next weekend.

Billy Dods, Tuesday, 21 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

It's in The Arches.

A few photos of me are going to be sold as stock photography in a few months. I'll certainly drive off the road or walk into traffic if I ever see a billboard with my face (not that my face is that interesting) advertising detergent or some crap.

Oh, I dunno, you could climb up a ladder and spraypaint a moustache and glasses on yourself.

Madchen, Tuesday, 21 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Better still, don't bother with the ladder: draw mustache and glasses on own face. Totally post-modern haha.

Who took this Lomo photo? Was it some kind of ponce?

Nick, Tuesday, 21 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Is this thread just the result of a bet re. Who can get Stevie T to post again?

the pinefox, Tuesday, 21 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Pinefox: eh?

Nick: Calumn Shearer, the anti-ponce.

All: I apologise, but this thread is somewhat redundant because my boyfriend is a big fat fibber and my picture isn't in the exhibition. Well, it is, but only sort of. It is sitting on a shelf. Big fat fibbing boyfriend may also be on the shelf soon if he doesn't watch it*

*not really

Madchen, Tuesday, 21 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Just spoken to Mr Shearer. Apparently the photo is properly mounted on card 'n that (along with one of Mr Phil-Two, apparently), so it is sort of in the exhibition. It's just not on the wall. Sorry.

Ally C, Tuesday, 21 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Oh, and Madchen, Stevie T has been in an exhibition himself. In New York, no less. A photo of him, I mean. I'm sure he can tell you all about it himself, though...

Ally C, Tuesday, 21 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Yep; all the time.

JM, Tuesday, 21 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Why does how your picture is presented make a difference, Madchen? Whether it's on a shelf or on the wall it's still in the exhibition, unless the shelf happens to be behind one of those doors marked "Private" which are liberally (and indeed, annoyingly) scattered in the majority of public buildings. Now if Stevie T was sitting on a shelf in an exhibition, that would be a different matter entirely, as everyone could see that he was saying "Look at me! I'm important enough to be in an exhibition!" when really he's crumpled up the Do Not Touch sign and secreted it in his pocket, brushed aside the piece of antique pottery sending it crashing to the floor and shattering into a million pieces and is in serious danger of ending up in the dust outside on the end of a security guard's boot.

one year passes...
Hmm. I just notice the random function at the bottom of ILE. Out of interest I pressed it and got this thread. Which would be unremarkable if I was not listening to
"PICTURES AT AN EXHIBITION" by ELP.

Have I just wasted my coincidence for this week?

More important ELP info: TARKUS is currently available in the FOPP sale for a mere £5.

)SO was PAAE - so I bought it loving Tarkus). Buy it - you won't be disappointed.

I wanna have an art exhibition!

jel -- (jel), Tuesday, 7 January 2003 17:51 (twenty-three years ago)

My picture is in our new brochure. I am pretending to be a student though, as we couldn't get any real ones to pose for us. And my mum had an exhibition devoted to her and other 'successful women' once.
