I associate Dentyne with the 70s, but it was introduced in 1899 (!).

Hubba Bubba and Bubbilicious are indistinguishable in my mind. I loved them both.

And Bubble Yum too, alll the soft bubble gums were very similar.

Yeah, it was a real copycat cavalcade. I had a preference for Bubblicious, but I'm not sure why. It was like Coke or Pepsi, you had to pick a brand. Orange was my favorite — although like grape, the flavor faded fast. I always figured that was by design, because you could go through a pack in like 20 minutes.

It’s hard for me to think of a flavor other than original. Did someone make an apple flavor?

There were several sour apple flavors, but I don't remember who specifically. I know the Big Soft 3 all had watermelon.

There was a pink lemonade flavor I liked a lot, maybe also Bubblicioius?

I think Bubblicious was the one that was engineered for bowing bubbles the size of your head that wouldn't stick to your face?

I remember when Bubblicious came out with the watermelon flavor. Every kid in school lost their god damn minds. Nothing had ever been watermelon flavor before. We didn’t know the technology existed. (Like grape, it tastes nothing like the actual fruit but that did not affect our fervor.) Regardless, voting Hubba Bubba, big bubbles no troubles. Also shout out to Big League Chew for finally answering the question “what if chewing tobacco but for kids?"

The one that really blew me away from that era was Gatorgum.

Had the exact same experience orifex recounts with Bubblicious Watermelon. That flavor just rocked my elementary school. It was like with Gummi Bears a few years later, you just kept coming back to this addictive new thing.

Such a fan of the Popeye licensed Green Big League Chew “spinach”.

Another thing about Bubblicious Watermelon I remember is that it was exchanged among schoolkids like cigarettes in prison.

I loved them. If they were fresh you actually do a little "puff" from them.

We lived in the country when I was a kid and there was a little country store about two miles down the hill from my house that I was allowed to walk to with friends once we reached a certain age (10 or so). Candy cigarettes were my favorite treat there.

Write-in -- Dubble Bubble was my brand of choice growing up.

It's my personal fave — but it was polled in the Vintage poll because it dates back to the 1920s.

when i was a kid i stuffed an entire pack of bubblicious in my mouth at once in a moment of experimentation/loss-of-self-control. it barely fit so i had to chew it over the bathroom sink and watch myself in the mirror while purple drool oozed from my mouth

^I did that with a pack of Bubble Yum. Amazing I didn't choke on it.

Fun fact: the director of Tár was involved in the creation of Big League Chew.

Big League Chew® was created by former Cornell University lefthander Rob Nelson in 1977 in the bullpen of Civic Stadium, home of the fabled Portland Mavericks. With help from two fellow Mavs, 13-year-old batboy Todd Field and former New York Yankee All-Star Jim Bouton, Rob’s idea got its sweet start.

The idea was simple – shredded bubble gum in a stay-fresh pouch. The very first batch was made by hand at Todd's house on Feb. 6th, 1979 (Babe Ruth's birthday!). Big League Chew hit retail shelves less than a year later, and instantly became a fan favorite across America.

Grape hubba bubba was my goto in the 80s. Then I got orthodontics in 85 and my sugar eating days were over.

None of the above. My gum in the '70s was Adams' sour fruit-flavored gum sticks; there were about 7 flavors available including sour grape, sour orange, sour apple, sour lemon, and sour cherry. Long-lasting, strong fruit flavors that weren't sickly sweet. Adams was owned by a succession of pharmaceutical companies, most recently Pfizer, before being divested, and in any case hasn't made most of these gums since about 1980 save for a brief revival of the orange and grape and that was about two decades ago.

I also liked Clark's Teaberry, which is still available though made by a different company. This used to be really popular - what happened?

Teaberry (1942) was in the vintage gums poll. Looks like Adams launched in the '60s, like Fruit Stripe.

I absolutely hate gum. That said, I was going to post "write-in vote for chiclets and fruit stripe" because those were my faves as a kid but Chiclets were first made in 1900!
