That's tonight that is! Carsmile and I are going. Are YOU?

If you are we'll be in The Pub, The Plain, from about 7 PM.

Tom, Tuesday, 21 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Get there early and see THE GOSSIP too! They RoXoR and I bet I didn't say that right.

MARK S TEACH ME HOW TO SPEEK LIKE YOO!

Sarah, Tuesday, 21 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Yes, I'm going! I've really liked the Lollies ever since I saw them at RoTa last year.

Anyone know anyfink about the Bangs (also playing)? New band (I assume) old name....it's what the Bangles used to be called.

MarkH, Tuesday, 21 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I thought the Bangs SuX0R (will someone PLEASE tell me how to do this) on Sat although Paul liked them but then agane he also not eat MEAT so more fule he. Sarah Dougher was nice, but a little dull. All the Bangs songs also seemed to be about BOYS... seeing as Ladyfest is supposedly about female empowerment and strength (tractor pulling competitions also feature) that seems rather DUD.

Sarah, Tuesday, 21 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Yes! I shall be there once I have negotiated the roads around Oxford...

Bill, Tuesday, 21 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Gossip/Lollies roXoR; SD = dull (and inclined to lecture audience for not spurning unnamed criminals for undisclosed crimes: "being competitive"); Bangs had coveted headlining sPotZoR so i missed em as went hoam aarly. Total villain of entire evening = Steve S*therland for some retarded nonsense he wrote in June abt Missy Elliott not being slender enuff to deserve a portion of SS running-dog lust.

Here's a few links to h4x0r-speak emulators & text convertors:

therinkworks dialecticiser is my joint favourite. Select "hacker" from the dialect menu, and type the URL of the page you want to convert into the box. This is the site I used to put mad stuff (now deleted) into thee "anti-carmody league" BB.

My mate david steinberg adapted a swiss fellows convertor utility to make this cut&paste text into it to see what comes out. Beware! This one is at the outer limits of intelligibility.

My favoutite covertor renders text into the style of the wild scandinavian vid/music artist nn/antiorp/=cw4t7abs This one RULES. Beware you don't actually turn into NN! Youw web presence will end up like this

I woner if any posters have come across NN's music? Here's a description from the above link:

This album is an absolute blast, though I'm damned if I can think of a way of describing it. Imagine if The Prodigy had spend six months at IRCAM doing an intensive residency with Pierre Boulez. Imagine if Kraftwerk were using Kyma in 1972. It's wonderfully produced and mixed, with enough clarity and animation to make it positively dangerous to a synaesthesic, and there's no way I'm going to risk it on headphones.

I've got to get hold of this.

Gaaah. Why does this software insert spaces in long URLs?

try cut & pasting instead:

Is this gig going to be chock-full of scary people speaking arcane languages I cannot understand?

55378008 was the punchline to a rude joke at high school that we used to tell in maths..."and she ended up..."

jel, Tuesday, 21 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

50337 should beat Arsenal tonight.

Greg, Tuesday, 21 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

So was it any good then? The gig, I mean.

DG, Tuesday, 21 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Erm, yes, it was. The Lollies were great, as were the Gossip, who also managed to get Toms shirt to change colour slightly. (Thanks for the pint, BTW!)

Bill, Tuesday, 21 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I was wearing my Global HypercoloR shirt.

How the fuXoR have you managed to get back within posting distance Bill? We can't have spent that long in B2 Budgens Express surely? Are you Knight Rider or something??

Tom, Tuesday, 21 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

The answer: Leave St. Clements car park at 23:20. Make it to Winchester (about 50 miles), in my front drive 00:20, post about 15 minutes later, I think. This miracle journey included a stop after I thought my hubcap had flown off...

What kind of a name for a puXoR is THE PUB?

Bill, Tuesday, 21 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

hello

Tadeusz Suchodolski, Wednesday, 22 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Maybe you'd prefer The Pub's old names, Bill, the Cape of Good Hope (1927-1995) then the Hobgoblin (1995-6). I must say that the last thing I want to do when I get home after a long journey late at night is use a computer - I admire your dedication. Maybe one day the Lollies will actually play their version of "Why does it always rain on me" live. Much, much better than the original!

MarkH, Wednesday, 22 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I must say that the last thing I want to do when I get home after a long journey late at night is use a computer

If only I could say the same. If only SARAH could say the same.

Tom, Wednesday, 22 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Thanks for coming down, everyone who came down. So nice to see you all, it was well needed to see some friendly faces around. Goddamn it was hot in that venue. We weren't exactly in top form, I apologise for that. Paul broke up with me yesterday, (don't even ask) so I wasn't exactly in top form. Last night I played so hard I ripped my fingernail out and didn't even notice until after the set. Ouch. Still doesn't hurt as much as a broken heart but oh well. One more date and then we can all go back and pretend that these two weeks never happened. I am following Suzy back down to Brighton for the weekend so I don't know how much I'll be around. Hope yer groovy, K
