I have been trying to make an effort recently to not read the news as much, and as such, I guess I missed that Partey finished his contract without renewal and then was charged for various assault and rape charges.

The timing is very suspicious but I don't care for conspiracy. There was talk that Arteta actually offered him a new contract, which seems ludicrous and in support of him. Now innocent until proven guilty and all that, i'm not going to get into Partey being potentially a fucking rapist. I'm more concerned about the club I support happily having played him and wanting to renew his contract. It sends a fucking dirty message. It makes me feel dirty to be an Arsenal fan. I'd heard a rumour or two, everyone had, but shit gets said about players all the time. Arsenal would have known more than I did and they happily carried on treating him like a big player. There was rumours for years that they were offered big money to move him to Juve or various Saudi money launderers and they preferred he stay. It's absolute bullshit.

So... yeah. I guess I don't expect players or teams in sport that I like to be paragons of virtue, but I also don't want to back those that act like they have. It's a shame, I like the Arsenal team more now than I have done for over a decade. But fuck Arteta, he's a little creep. I think I'd prefer to see his downfall than Arsenal win the title.
