I'm more just trying to take our turn in the spotlight of the thread title while the iron is hot
I can see us slipping back at least a bit this season tbh, but maybe Maatsen and Onana could add some energy, and maybe Buendia and Tielemans might be able to do a bit more?
I don't think anyone really knows how much we've spent, it's all obfuscated in layers of FFP voodoo, all of our fans have become amateur accountants and want Daddy Nas to sue the Premier League over their bad unfair financial restrictions alongside Man City, who have always been our good friends and not cheats that we hate or whatever

Please substitute "voodoo" above for "bullshit" or something else less dumb and bad to say in 2024 thx
Feel like we're going to sell loads of players before the window ends and end up annoyingly light at CB and CF. Our fans are also obsessed with signing Joao Felix at any cost and it's like...why?

― Proust Ian Rush (Camaraderie at Arms Length), Tuesday, 12 August 2025 09:42 (one month ago)
the sequence of events is very strange though
surely Liverpool didn't intend to spend c. £80m on a back-up striker?
and if Isak had already been convinced to join, why didn't they go all out for him from the start of the window and sign a cheaper bench option?
― Number None, Tuesday, 12 August 2025 09:44 (one month ago)
Would have thought Isak is viewed as long-term Salah replacement rather than a central striker, so for Liverpool just unsettling Isak and making it easier for Newcastle to let him go seems sensible enough.
Depending on Salah’s form and fitness they can afford to wait til next season or look to go again for him ahead of AFCON.
― crisp, Tuesday, 12 August 2025 09:50 (one month ago)
ekitike can play out wide too as can isak. with three fewer forwards than last year they really do need two. plus don't forget salah gonna be at afcon for a bit too.
and yeah, i would say salah might go next summer and isak is seen as a long-term replacement. it all looks like good planning to me if you take a long view.
