This insanely dark and hilariously fucked-up show about scumbags at a London investment bank is on its third season, so I think it deserves its own thread. This shit makes Succession look like Eight Is Enough.

The season 3 premiere might be the first time I've ever seen an erect penis on HBO. It goes by subliminally fast, but the circumstances under which it's seen are scarring to say the least.

Reviving this thread since season 4 premiered tonight. Am I really the only person watching this insanely evil show? I re-watched the season 3 finale right before the premiere, and that was insanely dark, almost Kubrick-level in its evisceration of upper-class scum. It seems like they're trying to make Harper (the nominal protagonist) a little less of a blatant sociopath this season, but that's obviously a fakeout.

I am only on Season 2! … I am also watching (slowly) a youtube series where two women who actually work in investment banking discuss how realistic the show is. Apparently there are a lot of details that are super accurate! …

New season has been quite a ride so far. Harper and Eric overleveraged and flailing about. Yasmin leaning into her evil abuser side with her underling. Jon Snow shooting smack but everyone still kisses his ass. Jonathan from Stranger Things totally unraveling at the first hint of adversity. What a bunch of messy people!

The most recent episode (season 4 episode 4) was not as good as the ones before (2 and 3 were incredible), but still had its share of "I didn't need to see that" moments.

episode 2 was a highlight

Tonight's episode was a few minutes longer than usual - almost felt like a season finale but I figure there's gotta be even more crash-out to come.

I think this may be the best season so far. This latest episode was gut wrenching.

It’s kind of wild that Max Minghella and Kit Harrington can basically walk into this show so late in the game and take it over. Minghella is wildly elevating this show imo

It's almost like they've completely rebooted it. It feels like a different show. I have found the storyline this season more like a standard American drama than the weirdly opaque little ratfests that Industry seasons used to be, where I had no real idea what was happening until about episode six, when the sinking feeling would settle in. I'm not saying that's good or bad, but it's very different.

Fifth and final season announced. I agree that this season feels very different. What happened to Robert? Did he escape somehow? Would be hilarious to see just one scene of him living happy and contented somewhere, just as a contrast with all the rest of these evil grasping fuckers.

He went to California to work for a startup or something at the end of last season. Have a feeling he may show up and stick a knife in at some point before the end.

lol @ this snotty drive-by. have only just started watching series one of this so i could be way off the mark here, but the role of the bathroom is interesting - it's seemingly the one place where two characters can interact without it being some sort of performance in front of others. that doesn't mean they're acting more honestly, but communication is somewhat more naked perhaps. ironically you would've thought the bedroom might provide this too but even there, phones are sharing the performance, or the noises are broadcast through the walls, it's kind of a conspicuous copulation. actually on second thoughts, theres lots of sex in the bathroom too eh? so yeah...

Season 4 finale: preeeeetty fuckin' bleak. So is Yasmin a madam now? And Nazi-adjacent? And are we supposed to be sympathetic to Harper?

caught up with the season and even i was kinda shocked by yasmin going full ghislaine, but i guess with the whole "father dying in suspicious circumstances on a yacht named after her" backstory the writers couldn't have been making it more obvious for us lol

guys i just finished s1 and i’m so hooked <3

I haven't read this thread, but two things:

I don't know or care about the finance world or even understand a lot of the dialog or moves, but I was still interested, partly because of the interpersonal relationships but also the score

There is a scene in S4 E8 (I'm not giving anything away) where Harper admits she’s no good at relationships because she has to protect herself. “At the cost of everything else?” Kwabena asks, with kindness. “That’s too high a price.”

“No, it’s not,” she tells him. “It’s not for me.”

Those words struck my heart, because that is how I've been my whole life. It felt profound to me

One the most relentlessly dark series I've seen.

one downside of bingeing Industry is that it is i think now negatively affecting my sleep? the dreams i am having are fucking horrible & high-stakes & like Industry cast members standing in rooms staring at me expectantly & i wake up SO STRESSED

I finished s4, speedrunning this show was prob a mistake for my mental wellbeing but holy shit

s4 ending dark af. the yas turn not completely unexpected, but still shocking. she could always rationalize anything but seeing her smoothbrainedly rationalize running girls AND fascism was truly elite Dark Yas behaviour.

i feel like this season was a lot more of Harper et al saying their motivations out loud, like in a way they havent had to do before. dunno if it was good or bad per se. just unusual.

i did decide that this is def in my top 5 (or top 10? idk) all time favorite shows

like the insane amount of story they fit into each episode, so much great writing, killer acting from really everyone. and the way they made a show appealing that is (initially) seemingly so nerdily entrenched in finance… fuckin hats off to Mickey & Conrad. goddamn.

i mean, there’s a few whiffs & misses along the way but they have so far made a pretty excellent omelet, broken eggs notwithstanding
